The best way to enjoy Yosemite in the Fall is unhurried, and unrushed.  Knowing where I had seen the colors and at what time of day they would be looking best certainly helps, and that's where the wandering comes in.  On this afternoon I only had myself to think of and just meandered about stopping only where I pleased and let much of the rest of the world pass me by.

Thanks as always for taking the time for a look!

It was an interesting kind of evening at Mono Lake which makes one feel as though you've been transported to another planet.  As I wandered the shoreline during a clearing storm, the colors in the sky took on an otherworldly kind of glow.  Sort of bright and muted at the same time like I was wearing sunglasses covered in a haze of salt water.  Adding to the eeriness of the warm summer night was this stark, crooked branch lying against a pancake shaped tufa stone.  I walked up to remove it, but it was covered with alkali flies that wouldn't leave in spite of all my attempts to shoo them away.  It was slimy and yucky looking and I didn't want to pick it up.  Even my stick loving dog had no interest in playing fetch with the beast.  I can have a rich imagination especially when I'm alone, so of course, I start thinking it's the leg bone of a dead alien and the flies are still in the process of picking it clean.  So I left the flies to their business while I went about mine, shooting away as the sunset cast this lovely glow over the water.  Full story available in the Enquirer.  ;)

Thanks as always for taking the time for a look!
