The term endometrial ablation defines removal of both the superficial and deep layer of the lining of the uterus called the endometrium. It is this tissue that causes monthly bleeding and removal of this tissue has been shown to reduce or completely eradicate menstrual bleeding.

It is a treatment for heavy periods and is not designed to get rid of periods (although this occurs in about 40% of cases), but rather make them much more manageable. It is usually performed as a day-case procedure and has a rapid recovery post-operatively.

This is an uncommon condition where scar tissue occurs inside the uterus. This may lead to pain, abnormal or no bleeding with periods and may be a contributor to infertility.

The treatment is surgical and requires expert skills that a number of Alana’s surgeons have gained over years of training. Our success rates for reconstructing the uterus are amongst the highest in the world and may restore a normal uterine cavity and fertility.

Chronic pelvic pain is defined as pain which occurs in the pelvic region and is present on most days for more than six months.

The pain may be constant or intermittent and may present as a generalised pain or be more localised and involving certain functions such as bladder or bowel filling or emptying, having sexual intercourse or dysmenorrhoea (painful periods).

Chronic pelvic pain has a significant cost to both the women who suffer with it, as well as society in general.

Alana Healthcare is 10 years old today!!
On this day in 2007 Alana Healthcare for Women opened her doors for the first time. We started out small, but with big hopes and dreams. 10 years and some 15,000 patients later, we are still growing, learning, changing and most importantly caring for the women and girls of Sydney and beyond.
Thank you to all of our patients who have put their trust in us and allowed us to care for them. It has been and is an honour and a privilege.
Thank you to our wonderful team of specialist doctors, physiotherapists and naturopaths whose expertise has raised the standard of care for women. You have set the bar high and made Alana who she is today.
And thank you to our incredible administrative team for your dedication and commitment to Alana and her patients - we couldn't do it without you. You all make Alana who she is.
Happy 10th Anniversary to us!!
