Love this place! It's the only place I'll eat chorizo. The hot chocolate rocks! I get it with soy as I can't do the milk and it's still delicious.

More manzanas con Tamarindo pleaseee!! I have been looking all over LA for manzanas con Tamarindo and on Father's Day we went to the zoo and after headed out for exploring...then we came across this gem! I give four stars for the outdoor seating and actually the indoor seating space as well. Or should I say lack there of. Also the line moved ridiculously slow as well as the cashier not having a genuine attitude. Other than that they had great $1 coronita and other drink specials and the food was also great! A little pricey for Mexican food but you get what you pay for here! A few plus points were the clean restrooms, help yourself to-go containers, and help yourself water stands:)

Wow. Amazing food. The mole fries are fantastic, chicharonnes de consuelo and camarones enchipotlados are insane. Go casual, this is a casual place where you order, sit down, start chatting and relax over good food. You can't go wrong with the menu here, they have specials each week, and the waitstaff is wonderful. Get there already!

I have been here over a hundred times, and not just because I live within walking distance, but because it's literally some of the best Mexican food in LA. It has a casual vibe, order at the counter, just like any other taqueria, but the quality of the food surpasses the usual fare. Duck confit tacos, seafood, huitlacoche and fried artichoke vegetarian options. Now they've expanded, so more seating, and serve beer & wine handpicked from Mexico. Not to mention an inventive brunch menu and full espresso bar. We also regularly pick up tubs of guacamole and salsa verde from their deli case for parties. Not to mention their employees know us by name and are always super friendly. If I had to pick one place to take out-of-towners, this would be the spot. Enjoy!

Delicious Mexican food! l love the duck tacos. You can find a fancier Mexican restaurant, but it won't have better food!

Cute place to have some homemade tacos and an espresso drink. This place has been one of my bookmarks for a while since it's been on Jonathan Gold's list. SEATING: They have a couple tables in their patio area. And a fairly small dining area meant for groups of 4 or smaller. TACOS: *Carnitas de Pato $4.25 -This is their specialty and it was very good! You get shredded pieces of duck that's nicely flavored. Their homemade corn tortillas were perfect. *Puerquito Japones $6.75 [Taco of the week - kurobata pork on a potato-bacon latke with apricot habanero salsa and garlic chips] -This taco was pretty good but had a lot of different flavors and textures going on. I loved the flavor of the pork. And the garlic chips and latke added a nice crunch to the taco. DRINK: *Dulce Cafe con Leche $4.95 (piloncillo, cinnamon and milk) -I didn't think this drink was anything special. I think it had a little bit too much milk for me. PARKING: -Street parking that can be easily found in the residential area Overall, a good place to grab a quick meal but not for large groups.

I do like many of their menu items. The mole fries are decadent. Tacos are good. If I had one complaint is that its a tad overpriced. You can easily run a 20 dollar bill by yourself on just a few items. I grew up eating tacos in mexico so paying 3+ for tacos is something that makes me grunt on the inside. At that price point, the tacos have to be exceptional and at Cacao, they are good but not exceptional. Its like paying 20 dollars for a movie ticket. At that price point, the movie better be amazing. When I catch a matinee at 6 bucks a pop, I am more likely to go easy on the movie. Anywho, nice spot, a tad overpriced.
