22 hours and 11,000 miles sat on planes, but well worth the journey to be in wonderful Sydney. Here just for 2 days before heading to give a plenary in Adelaide next week :)

Some reflections on the Summer School: http://vknight.org/unpeudemath/mathematics/2016/01/27/UNAM-Mathematics-Summer-School/

It's been an awesome experience.

My post is just a quick lay down of photos and feelings.

An honour to have been invited to present to Welsh Government Assembly Members about our healthcare mathematical modelling research and impact. More great visibility :)

A few pics from an enjoyable day spent in Oxford with the family. The streets were welcomely tranquil (we mostly avoided the shops!) and the weather unusually mild for the time of year.

Behind the photo of the kids is the the circular Radcliffe Camera (camera is the Latin word for 'room') which was completed in 1749 to house a library devoted to the sciences. Today it acts as a private reading room for the nearby Bodleian Library.

Three very excited kids in our house just watched the ISS pass by (courtesy of the ISS spotter app for timings and directions) - despite some cloud cover we managed a good view - our youngest thought it might be Santa already :)

A very happy Christmas to all my G+ friends 🚀

*The dilemma of exchanging gifts at christmas*

Here's a blog post that uses game theory to offer an explanation of why when we agree to not exchange gifts... we do so anyway. (Turns out it's a Prisoner's dilemma :))

Still pinching ourselves after winning an award last night for the Times Higher Education Innovation and Technology prize at a very enjoyable and glitzy ceremony in London. Would not have been possible without a wonderful team of researchers (post-docs who do all the hard work) and working with some amazingly talented people in NHS Wales who make it all happen by translating the research into practice.
