I have eaten at Eight4Nine a number of times. I have had dinner 3 times. I have eaten lunch once. I have eaten in the bar 3 times and had brunch there once. I live in West Hollywood so it is a trek for me. My husband, Son and I have been seeing all of the hoopla all over the news so we wanted to go down and check it out. My son and I went for the grand opening. It was spectacular. We ate in the bar/lounge. We did not know what to order so we may have overdid it. We had too much food. I would highly suggest the southern fried bacon, yep you heard right. Also the cracked potatoes may be some of the best potatoes I have eaten. The smoked carne asada flatbread and confit chicken tacos are not to be missed. We then had dinner there the next night. I ordered Willa Jean's fried chicken. not your traditional fried chicken. Was pleasantly surprised when it had a nice honey flavor. The potatoes that came with it was amazing. Also had the shoyu pork belly for an appetizer. It was like magic in your mouth. Don't know what I was expecting but wow! And then I had the bread pudding. I love bread pudding the way my mom used to make it, but usually avoid it in restaurants because I love raisins, just not in my bread pudding. I ordered it as it did not have raisins. so good that when I went back 2 weeks later with my husband, I had it again. I have also had the bacon wrapped pork tenderloin and New York steak. All amazing. (I guess you can see a theme, I do not eat seafood) But my husband does...He had the charred octopus for an appetizer. He still raves about it. He ordered it the next time he was in also. He has also had the chilean sea bass and the salmon for dinner. loved them both. Now for brunch. I ordered the carne asada and eggs. It may be the best carne asada I have ever eaten. (When I am in Palm Spring in 2 weeks I will be having it for dinner.) My husband had 1 of the eggs benedict, (I do know which one because again, I do not eat them) but he raved. The Burger with blue cheese??? do not forget to try it. crazy good. oh and for a dessert??? Smores may the most unusual and tasty things. Very innovative. The first week I went there the service was a little slow. I was hoping it would change and then I talked to the manager and he told me that all of the servers had all only worked 1 time in the restaurant. Since the place was being designed and put together, they had all trained at a different location. So it made sense. Then when we went the next night there were a couple of mishaps but nothing unusual, every place breaks a glass...But the service has been top notch. The other part I really love about Eight4Nine is the personal touch. Ok I admit, I do stand out a little bit, my hair is bright pink. BUT by the 3rd time in there I got a hug from the manager and people that work there would stop by, say hi and thank me for coming back. Some even remembered my name. That is the kind of service that I keep going back to a place for. I am a creature of habit, so when I find someplace that gives me a feeling of welcome and also have excellent service and quality of food that this place has, you can bet I will continue to be a customer.
