This is emblematic of the change that is sweeping through the legal profession.  Like most firms, we adopted electronic legal research 15-20 years ago, but  continued to maintain selected references in hard copy.  As the years went by, we've annually reduced the number of subscriptions to law book services.  In 2013, we are well along in the process of trashing most of the remaining law book series -- a necessary step towards reducing our fixed overhead and becoming more efficient.  The photo depicts one day in the life of our incredible shrinking law library.

Maybe this will get more use, now that Google Reader is on the way out.

I spent some time on Saturday looking at alternatives to Google Reader, and at first it was disappointing that there are no real equivalents.  However, I downloaded and saved the archive of my feeds through Google Take Out, and I've already started using Feedly on my Android phone -- and all my Google Reader feeds were imported by Feedly automatically. I'm also trying out Zite on my Android phone.  Feedly is working on a backend server to replace Google Reader as of July 1, and meanwhile, I'll just wait and watch to see what else the market develops. So I feel like the switchover is more or less managed already. #googlereader
