Here's a pretty comprehensive list of companies that do not test on animals.

Why we test on these precious animals is beyond me.

In my opinion, Sprinkles Cupcakes are hands down the best. Lots of tasty flavors, the cake is always moist, and the frosting is perfect. My favorite is anything chocolate peanut butter, and theirs is divine. Skip the line at Georgetown Cupcakes and head down the street to Sprinkles...it's definitely worth it!

If you're at all into knitting, Fibre Space is one of the best yarn/knitting shops in the DC area. They've got a great selection of yarn, great pattern books, and very helpful service. If you're like me and don't like to figure out yarn weight conversions, just bing your pattern and the staff is happy to help you figure out the yarn that will work best for you. They also have a fantastic Holiday sale every year. I'm really happy Fibre Space is in my backyard.

I love this place, and I love that it's just down the street from my place. Lots of options for a true make-it-your-way salad. And to switch things up a bit, opt for a sandwich (think salad burrito).

We are very picky about where we take our pooch, and he is very discerning about where we will stay. ADDO's space is great for pooch play, and you can tell the staff really loves working with the dogs. And maybe it's just a mother's bias, but I'm pretty sure the owners pay special attention to my boy which I really appreciate. We all vote two paws way up for A Dog's Day Out!

Dell has been my stylist now for about 6 months, and I'm very happy with him. He listens, does what I ask, makes great suggestions, and has gone out of his way to fit me into his schedule. I really love the Aveda products and while pricey I think they're totally worth it.

We go here for our supply of Orijens. They have a decent selection of high-quality foods and a really good selection of canine beauty supplies. And while I think you have make a grooming appointment two months ahead of time, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

The iced mochas are take it or leave it, as are the cupcakes (sometimes they're moist and delicious, and sometimes they're dry, the sometimes the icing isn't so great), but the earl grey tea and cherry scones are deelish. Service is hit or miss, sometime they're happy and helpful and other times they all seem angry with one another, but my pooch loves the dog biscuits. The ambience is good if you want to study, and the parking is easy and convenient and in a decent neighborhood for a dog walk. So between the take it or leave it, we'll take it...for now.
