Liar! Liar!

Does anyone anywhere actually believe anything anymore of what the US Government tells us? Anyone? — No, thought not . . .

This past week the US Government cranked-up its spin to justify an attack on Iran and commence WW III. Problem is for Uncle Sam, that, apart from the usual suspects (Fox News, for example, with the following article) the world has woken up [*] and no longer believes the lies:

'U.S. Ties Iran to Assassination Plot Against Saudi Diplomat on U.S. Soil' ~ Fox News

"Authorities foiled a plot that was directed by factions of the Iranian government to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to the United States, Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday at a press conference."

[*] - a selection of articles that disassemble the US Government's lies:

'The “very scary” Iranian Terror plot' ~ Glenn Greenwald | Salon

"The most difficult challenge in writing about the Iranian Terror Plot unveiled yesterday is to take it seriously enough to analyze it"

'The fast and furious plot to occupy Iran' ~ Pepe Escobar | Al Jazeera

"No one ever lost money betting on the dull predictability of the US government."

'Questions over Alleged Islamic Republic Assassination Plot in US' ~ Public Broadcasting Service

"Let us analyze the claim carefully to see whether it is plausible at all."

'Will the Washington Bomb Plot Force Obama into War with Iran?' ~ Tony Karon | TIME Magazine

"Accepting at face value the claim that this plot was the work of the Iranian government requires a suspension of disbelief."

'You Should Hope the Crazy Iranian Bomb Plot Is True' ~ Spencer Ackerman | WIRED

"The wild story put out by the Justice Department about an Iranian assassination plot smells suspiciously like something passed through a bull’s digestive tract."

'Bizarre Iranian “Plot” Doesn’t Add Up' ~ Patrick Cockburn | Counterpunch

None of it makes sense:

"The confident announcement of this bizarre plot by the US Attorney General Eric Holder sounds alarmingly similar to Secretary of State Colin Powell’s notorious claim before the UN in 2003 that the US possessed irrefutable evidence Saddam Hussein was developing weapons of mass destruction."

Got room for one more? - this from a former CIA analyst . . .

'Petraeus’s CIA Fuels Iran Murder Plot' ~ Ray McGovern | Information Clearing House

"The US Constitution and its Bill of Rights have become endangered species at the hands of the craven poachers at "Justice." No less craven are the functionaries leading today’s CIA." (h/t +bill camp)
and let's not forget the other player in all of this — Israel. Here is my earlier, related thread on that matter:

Israel: mad dog of the Middle East . . .

"WWW III — is Israel about to attack Iran?"

Plus, an Israeli perspective, today's date . . .

'Do the D.C. bomb plot and Shalit deal spell “war with Iran”?' ~ Ami Kauffman | 972 Magazine

"Yesterday, as I looked at the New York Times homepage, I didn't know there might have been a connection between two of its main stories. The top story was the Washington bomb plot to assassinate a Saudi envoy, which the administration is connecting the dots all the way to Tehran.'

'The story just under that was, of course, the biggest news in Israel for a long time – the upcoming release of Gilad Shalit. And lo and behold, there are those who are connecting this to Iran as well. Not his release – but it what it may mean for the future."

'How to Spin a Plot' ~ Gareth Porter | Counterpunch

October 17, 2011 ― "U.S. officials peddle false Intel to support terror plot claims [...] but the information about the two Iranian officials leaked to NBC News, the Washington Post and Reuters was unambiguously false and misleading, as confirmed by official documents in one case and a former senior intelligence and counterterrorism official in the other."

'America, Iran and the Plot' ~ Deepak Tripathi

October 17, 2011 ― "As doubts increase over the “plot,” but the campaign against Iran is pushed by Washington regardless, expressions of incredulity abound."
