Talon and the Twitter Token Limit
Inevitably, I have gotten a lot of questions the last few days about Talon
in relation to the token limit, after Fenix
recently ran out.
So to sum it up: yes, Talon still has plenty of tokens available. We are not in jeopardy of running out any time soon.
As a Twitter developer, however, the token limit is something you always know is there and cannot ignore. What happens when you reach it is up to the individual developer. When Talon reaches that limit, I have no intention of releasing another version as I did last time.
As for what will happen to the current app when it does reach that limit, I think that the past year and a half speaks for itself as to what I will do. The classic version of Talon
has continued to receive new features and regular updates, despite hitting that limit in October of 2014.
So, will Talon hit the limit? Yes, eventually, but not anytime soon. Will Talon continue to be supported after that limit? Instead of me giving you that answer, I would hope that my current work speaks volumes on its own.
If I didn't love my work, then I would have quit a long time ago. I love what I can make and I love what I can do with a few short keystrokes. I don't see that changing for a very long time. Talon is so much more than just a product for me and that is why I put so much time into supporting it (and it's users) and so much time into making it better. For reference: http://www.androidpolice.com/2016/04/25/fenix-pulled-from-play-store-after-hitting-twitters-dumb-token-limit/
