Thanks for the information. We need it in this junk eating obsessed
country

Here's some food for thought.  This chart, presented by the CDC, shows a huge jump in #obesity   rates in the US from 1990 to 2010. The NCHS Data Brief No. 82, Jan. 2012, reports that between 2009-10 37.4% of all adults were obese.  That's roughly 78 million adults who were considered obese. HealthAffairs 28, no. 5(2009), estimates that in 2008 the medical expenses due to obesity were about 147 billion.  Anyway you look at it, obesity is a major health issue we need to address.

In my opinion, a few things need to happen before we see this turned around.
1. Personal accountability, each person needs to look in the mirror and do their part.  (Some are genetically predisposed, or have medical condition that cause their obesity)
2. Educate yourself, there many free resources where you can get valuable information about the causes and treatment of obesity.
3. Eat healthy. Poor nutrition is one of the keys of this obesity epidemic.
4. Exercise more.  I didn't start sitting in front of my computer until the late 90s, coincidence that obesity has risen over the last two decades?
5.  We have to demand better options from food companies out there.  The customer is always right and if the customer demands healthy food, guess what they are going to get?

#fitness #health #nutrition   #obesity

We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren’t old enough and we’ll be more content when they are.

After that, we’re frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are able to go on a nice vacation, when we retire. The truth is, there’s no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when?

Your life will always be filled with challenges. It’s best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway.

One of my favourite quotes comes from Alfred D. Souse. He said, “For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, or a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life”.

This perspective has helped me to see that there is no way to happiness.

Happiness is the way. So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time… and remember that time waits for no one.

So, stop waiting…

– until you finish school,
– until you go back to school,
– until you lose ten pounds,
– until you gain ten pounds,
– until you have kids,
– until your kids leave the house,
– until you start work,
– until you retire,
– until you get married,
– until you get divorced,
– until Friday night,
– until Sunday morning,
– until you get a new car/home,
– until your car or home is paid off,
– until spring, until summer,
– until fall, until winter,
– until you are off welfare,
– until the first or fifteenth,
– until your song comes on,
– until you’ve had a drink,
– until you’ve sobered up,
– until you die,
– until you are born again…

…to decide that there is no better time than right now to be happy.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination.

Two of the most powerful words in the English language is
"No" and "Yes "
no other words have put more fear in people eyes then these two little words.

Overcome this fear and you can get a lot of things done.
# Be blessed!

Favorite Quotes from "The Great Debaters"
Who's the judge?
The judge is God!
Why is he God?
Because he decides who wins or loses, not my opponent!
Who's your opponent?
He doesn't exist!
Why does he not exist?
Because he is merely a dissenting voice to the truth I speak!

Chuck Norris can build a snowman out of rain.

Chuck Norris can strangle you with a cordless phone.

Chuck Norris can drown a fish.

Chuck Norris can play the violin with a piano

When Chuck Norris enters a room, he doesn't turn the lights on, he turns the dark off.

Chuck Norris once had a heart attack; his heart lost.

When Chuck Norris looks in a mirror the mirror shatters, because not even glass is stupid enough to get in between Chuck Norris and Chuck Norris.
