The food was great but who cares, the beer was outstanding. I'm from the Midwest and I've had there standard brews, but in-house they have some special brews. The staff was the best I've ever come across in the nation, top notch! I don't know the whole story but someone in charge is doing something right.

Cool place to stop in for a beer, watch the game and crab a bite to eat. It does have a bit of a commercial feeling to me almost like a Bennigan's but no where near as cheesy. They have adequate TV's set out in the bar area that are strategically placed where you can watch sports. My wife and I both got salads that were good, your typical expectation of what a bar would serve maybe slightly better. The service was good, fast friendly and quick. When we needed something the staff was attentive to our requests. We stopped of at plenty of micro brews and pubs in Bend and upon our return I'm not sure I would visit here again. There are other places nearby that are better and give a more homegrown experience and atmosphere.

If you like Deschutes beer you can't go wrong. The food is good and there is enough variety for most.

Visited twice in Dec-2013. Food is quite good (outstanding compared to most pub grub) and reasonably priced for what you get; dinner for 2 can be kept under $40. I'd avoid the sandwiches but salads and meat loaf were memorable. Probably the best meat loaf I've ever eaten. Service is very good; the people are great but they are pressed hard when things get busy. Ambiance is OK if you like really large, really new places that try to look like converted warehouses, which seems to be the fashion in PNW brewpubs. Beers are OK, maybe great if you're new to Deschutes, but regardless - they run several taps of stuff you won't ever see at Safeway, and it's definitely worth a taste.

Great beer as you could imagine. Food is a little less stellar, but great happy hour. Service was decent. A must GO if you are in Bend

Deschutes is a great spot to stop in Bend if you are a beer lover. Located right in the downtown area, the bar and restaurant is nice and causal and often crowded. The food here is typical bar food with burgers, salads and some good fish offerings. Nothing too special but it certainly does the trick. The reason to come here is the excellent beer that Deschutes makes. I really like Mirror Pond and Bachelor Ale but have yet to find a beer of theirs I don't like. Reasonable pricing and a casual atmosphere it's a great stop in Bend.

Service was not very attentive to me or my friend Trequantae, and serviced others before us for longer than 20 minutes. The reason I gave it an extra star, is because the beer is amazing. You can taste the difference here.

Elk burger was under seasoned, we had the "extra special fries." That was missing all the seasoning on the fries, though the garlic aioli was really good. Completely overpriced. I will never pay $8 for what accounted as a large fry at a fast food place again. Don't come here for the food, come for their beers.
