The final recipe in the pot roast Trifecta.
It's the final night of our Trifecta* and I'm looking forward to another winning ticket. Nothing beats soup on a cold, wintry night and we've been having plenty of those lately. *this recipe uses leftover Merlot Pot Roast (re...

Is it possible to watch your waist and eat scalloped potatoes? You bet.
Who doesn't love scalloped potatoes, a comfort food if ever there was one. Many people give up after trying to make them and having them come out uncooked. The secret to perfect scalloped potatoes lies in using a mandoline to...

I haven't had this since I was a child. My mother used to make it. She called it bonzet (sounds like this; don't know spelling). Yours looks delicious.
Veal breast is a less valuable cut of meat, therefore it's inexpensive but not less flavorful.   It requires to be slow cooked in order to be tender.  When boiled, it provides a flavorful broth.  When stuffed, seasoned with h...

Cathedral Window Wall Hanging
Sometimes my enthusiasm for a project grows and, as is it does, so does the project. This was a case where reason won out over enthusiasm. What began as a king-sized cathedral window quilt, using a white Kona cotton as background, evolved into a wall hangin...

These meatballs are incredibly good.
A few years ago I read Alex Witchel's All Gone: A Memoir of My Mother's Dementia. With Refreshments. It was a poignant love letter to her mother who suffered from this heart-breaking disease. Included along with the story of ...

Make this with leftovers from merlot pot roast.
It's Night 2 of our Trifecta*, time to turn that delectable pot roast into an entirely new meal. This meal will take less than 20 minutes to get into the oven. I added some sauce to the original recipe, though you can omit it...

Another Stitch-along
Many years ago I tried my hand at crewel work. I enjoyed it, but it was difficult for me to learn because I am left-handed and illustrations and patterns then were all geared to the right-handed. My mother, though an accomplished seamstress and milliner, di...

I really enjoyed this comfort food.
I love ooey, gooey chicken enchiladas. In fact, there aren't many cheese-covered dishes that I don't like, especially Mexican ones. I've made enchiladas at home, even making my own sauce. The truth is, I'd rather eat them out...

Forget the recipe on the Hershey's bag; this recipe from Skippy is way better.
For the past several years, I've been baking cookies at Christmas to deliver to seniors who participate in a program for which I volunteer. This year I was surprised to discover that our numbers were up significantly (don't k...

Working with Silk
I have a lot of experience working with silk; it's one of my fabrics of choice when I'm putting together a crazy quilt. That said, I generally work with very small pieces of silk, so I was intrigued by a workshop offered by my guild and taught by Cheryl Lyn...

My favorite spa, bar none. I've been getting massages, facials, and other spa services since they first opened. I love the tranquil setting and the fact that the service providers are all well-trained and attuned to customers' needs. Prices are very affordable and packages are always available.
