Hangouts on Air are a powerful marketing tool. These 5 tips make it even better!

+Wade Harman nailed it with this great article on #HOAtips of how to best promote your Hangout.

This article was originally shared and published on the +Social Media Examiner blog. The info Wade shares is well worth reviewing.

My favorite point is what Wade says about +Circloscope. I use this tool every week to promote +Network Round Table: The Softer Side of Business. One thing I would add is using the export list tool to create a mention list of those who are interested in your show. Having a circle of all the people who have commented and another with those who have said they are coming will help you get to your targeted audience.

Many of you know I ( +DENNIS N. DUCE) am working on a book about HOAs with +Jenn Foster from +Biz Social Boom. This blog post will most assuredly be added to the chapter on promoting your HOA.

Lotico San Diego Semantic Web Meetup

I had a great time last night at the San Diego Semantic Web meetup in which both +Bill Slawski and Eric Axel delivered informative presentations on semantic SEO and semantic search.

Here's a photo from the event of Bill discussing the formatting of direct answer box results. The text in the photo says the following:

The Formatting of Answers Matters
• The format of the answer helps determine which answer is being presented
• Does it answer the question?
• Does it fit in the space allotted? (like a query snippet does on a results page)

View Bill's presentation here: http://www.slideshare.net/billslawski/semantic-seo-and-the-evolution-of-queries

Go After The Traffic
Small businesses and solopreneurs hold an advantage when it comes to the evolution of SEO: flexibility.

The new search is what +Bruce Clay of +Bruce Clay, Inc. Internet Marketing calls three-dimensional. PPC, SEO, Web design etc., all need to be related and interrelated.

Large business needs to re-educate departments to talk to each other about an overview and coordination of all the departments. Small business has a greater ability to pay attention to all of the components that go into driving traffic to the website.

The time to think about coordinating all your activities into a single cohesive voice to create expertise, authority, and trust is today. Two parts to traffic to your site:

    *User experience
    *Streamlined for search

In order for traffic to work Focus attention on the user experience over your entire website.

Today's SMT Power Talk was a conversation between +David Amerland and +Bruce Clay.

Coordination and education are key to your current SEO strategy.

A Not-So-Short Breakdown of Using Short URLs in Social Media
The pros, the cons, and everything in between.

Short URLs are everywhere. But are you taking advantage of them for your social media and/or content marketing efforts?

Skip the jibber-jabber, and read now: http://dustn.ws/1aNTfeo

In this post I look at all the angles-- both positive and negative views on using short URLs in your online efforts. There's even a few fun facts that I uncovered in my research:

- Branded urls can get up to 26% more click-through
- Using them on +Pinterest  could get your pin removed
- Setting up custom branded short urls is easier than you think
- Caution: some people are not okay with any form of short URLs-- know your audience.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on the subject, and hear how you do or don't choose to implement using short urls in your social media activities.
