You, know...I'm not racist, nor have I ever been. But, I am sick and tired of troublemakers controlling the narrative. And, I'm also sick and tired of those in this country who seek to divide, rather than unite.
Has this country perpetrated acts that we should be ashamed of? Yes, and we all are.
Worrying about the past, though, is worrying about water under the proverbial bridge. Nothing, not a thing, we do today will ever compensate those who were wronged in the past.
However, everything we do today will effect the future. Why compound our mistakes by making more?
Whether we like it or not, the Civil War was a part of our nations history. Sure, the war brought about positive changes, but it was also very detrimental to the future of this country. Neither side was without fault. You can't condemn the actions of the Confederacy while you champion the actions of our revolutionary Forefathers.
Sometimes the bigger picture is ignored, either for expediency's sake, or through plain old ignorance. Look deeper into history, and, while doing so, realize that there are always ulterior motives.
So, while we're at it, look how inane we act. If we ban that which offends anyone, we might as well ban everything and have nothing.
