Higher One Covers Tuition Costs, Sends Lucky Student to College Free of Student Loan Debt

St. Petersburg College (FL) student announced as the winner of company’s Tuition Freedom Sweepstakes

[New Haven, CT – September 16, 2013] — Higher One, a leader in providing financial services and data analytics to more than 1,600 college and university campuses across the U.S., has announced the winner of its Tuition Freedom Sweepstakes, covering up to $120,000 of college tuition costs for Tracye Sackett, a student at St. Petersburg College in Florida. Sackett can complete her education knowing she will graduate free of student loan debt.

After 10 years of experience in the veterinary field, Sackett’s love for animals and a desire to expand her abilities to provide them with care led her to pursue a degree in veterinary technology. Obtaining the education and certification necessary to better help animals medically was the obvious next step, Sackett said, and the Higher One Tuition Sweepstakes will help her accomplish this goal.

“Winning this sweepstakes is a huge deal to me. This scholarship means that I can continue with my studies and be able to afford to finish the program that I am in,” Sackett said. “[Pursuing a degree] has been a bit of an uphill climb, but it has given me a sense of accomplishment and something to be proud of—in the end it will have all been worth it.”

As the national conversation focuses on the issues of rising college costs and growing student debt, Higher One viewed this sweepstakes as an opportunity to make a difference, providing peace of mind to one student to graduate without the burden of tuition debt.

“We congratulate Tracye and wish her much success in completing her studies at St. Petersburg College,” said Miles Lasater, President and Chairman of Higher One. “At Higher One we are committed to working every day to help our university clients more effectively change the lives of millions of students.”

One of Higher One’s focuses is increasing student completion rates through data analytics and the early assessment of at-risk students. In addition, Higher One’s products and services offer students innovative banking options, tuition payment plans and the basics of financial management.

The Company’s solutions have helped institutions save millions of dollars and allocate resources more efficiently in order to provide a higher quality of service and education to college students at a time when higher education is coming under fire for its hand in the alarming rise in tuition costs and the continuing fall in student retention rates. Higher One is committed to help lower education costs and each year allocates funds through promotions and scholarships that help cover the costs of tuition for students across the United States.
