To forestall the inevitable: yes gents, we are not all like this. But we all know someone who fits the description, don't we?

While I'm 100% on board with the "don't put lit butts in the garbage", could we take a moment and also mention it's maybe not a bright idea to put pop bottles full of fuel in the garbage either?
An Edmonton man suffered serious burns early Monday morning when he mistakenly ignited a pop bottle holding gasoline by throwing his cigarette butt in the trash

Of course, the U.S. won't torture him. They might use "enhanced interrogation", but that's totally legal, right?

The FIFA "clarification" (which really has the tone of "you seriously need us to say this?", doesn't it) was pretty self-evident. What will be interesting is where the blame lands when all the weekend tournaments are cancelled. (Either that, or we'll be hearing that Quebec swept the tournament - aren't we awesome!)

This is from last week, but I just saw it.

While I'm not one of those "no snitch" people (the teachers are supposed to be In Charge, so why is it bad to tell them, oh, Bobby has a weapon?), but seriously - the kid has a knife, he's threatening someone... if the teacher isn't there now, they're not going to be there in time.

School board needs to have a sit down and decide exactly what lessons they're trying to teach. (And I hope there was a massive uproar that a kid who not only brought a knife to school, but actually threatened someone with it(!) was only suspended, and not, y'know, arrested?)

And yet again, NPH nails the opening number.

I would be more on-board with this argument if I heard the same thing about PS3 and XBox exclusives.

This story amuses the heck out of me - not only does the not-for-profit wait most of a year to contact Trudeau (in which time they manage to simultaneously proclaim the event a success and cut staff because they lost money), they're not even the ones to leak the story - it's coming from the Prime Minister's Office!

Wow - it's really convenient for this to pop up when Harper is out of the country, so that if it backfires on them he can disclaim knowledge.

I'm sure the timing couldn't be better if they'd planned it.

From the article: The police investigation determined “there was no evidence of intent to harm the children and no evidence to suggest it was a malicious act.” (the "act" being to use masking tape to close the mouths of several kids).

Just gotta ask - so, we're not only saying they weren't maliciously gagging children (I guess it was part of a fun new educational game?), but we're going to assert that it's now A-OK to do so, because it doesn't harm them?
Halifax Regional Police have decided not to lay charges after concluding their investigation into complaints that an after-school monitor at a Bedford, N.S. school taped students' mouths shut last month.

I think the article is missing the point here - I don't care if the kids keep score. But the parents shouldn't. After all, how can you tell your kids that "it doesn't matter if you win or lose, it's how you play the game", and then keep records on not how they played, but whether they won or lost?

Put another way: my daughter's soccer league isn't keeping score this year. The kids know if they won or lost, but the lack of league scoring means that they also learn it doesn't matter. And at this age, it really shouldn't.

I would disagree - since the government wants hands-on control over their negotiations, the minister responsible should have to be in the room, getting fingerprints all over the various changes they want in.
