April's Calendar Cakes Challenge - Easter Bakes
Easter baking rules. Pretty pastels, hot cross buns, fruit cakes, biscuits, chocolate... the list goes on my sweet-toothed tribe of bakers. I love the Easter break, not only do we get two Bank Holidays, but the weather is usually improving too. This is the ...

Pink Percy Pig Bundt Cake
I'm so not down with the kids. I know nothing of current children's TV, and don't even know the names of the Minions. Luckily, I have April (2) and Jayne (30) to assist me. They're good eggs.  The other week, my little pal April turned the ripe old age of t...

Cake and Bake Show Manchester 2014
Sugar shakes. Feet like trotters. Dining room still full of bags. Fridge packed with pie. This can mean only one thing... It was a pretty awesome Cake and Bake Show weekend! Three days of oohs, ahhs, greediness, giddiness and general sugar shaped misdemeano...

Afternoon Tea at Harrods
A few weeks ago, I was asked to go and review afternoon tea at Harrods. We didn't actually have a trip to London planned, but decided on a whim to pop down over my birthday and check out what was on offer at the iconic London store.  Afternoon Tea is taken ...

Pear and Ginger Bundt Cake
I've made some wonderful friends through cake. It's pretty weird to think that had it not been for my move away from the muffin period and into the bundt obsession, I would never have started Bolton Clandestine Cake Club, and some of my closest friends woul...

Banoffee Pie Bundt Cake
I love baking for friends. I get more enjoyment from watching other people eating my cakes than I do from eating them myself! One of the constant sources of bundt inspiration over the last few years has been my friends and colleagues. I've often referred to...

Peach Bundt Cake
'So the labyrinth's a piece of cake, is it? Well let's see how you deal with this little slice...' This month's cake club theme was The Land of Make Believe . As a child I was obsessed with the film Labyrinth - yes, I still know most of the script and yes, ...

Serendipitea, Chorlton
I have a list.  Serendipitea  in Chorlton has been on said list for a some time. It's not a place I venture to often, but a couple of weeks ago I found myself alone on Beech Road. No, I hadn't come over all 'Wizard of Oz', but I did have a couple of hours t...

So it looks a a bit like a Harvester from outside. So what? The normal food menu is exactly what you would expect from a family pub, but those desserts descended directly from heaven. If you're ever in need of an emergency pudding, nip in for a cakeaway. I believe the Malteaser cheesecake is a bit of a winner too...
