She has proven her diplomatic bona fides as secretary of state for Obama, who reminds me of my father. He cannot run for another election, according to the rules of the Constitution, as he has already served as President of the United States of America twice. Presumably in the future he will do something sort of like Al Gore does - campaign against Global Warming & environmental issues.

My mother is a bookseller & here is a book that I am a fan of! Seth Godin makes some really good points here (2) in this new book he's promoting: "Your Turn." This is an interesting read that is well worth checking out. My mother is in the book publishing business & recommended this classic to me. I feel that Godin is similar to me and he really makes some good points there about entrepreneurialism & what traps to avoid and what character traits to try to emphasize such that you don't get too stagnant.

I also enjoy his blog, which is REALLY an inspiring one. Apparently he & I have a similar worldview, which is nice. He sort of reminds me of my grandpa - just an inspiring character that has lived a lot of life.

I like what they've done with the logo & apparel at ASU (1).. SPARKY looks much more iconic in the past couple of years than he has in the decades before that. Typically students buy lanyards & stickers & shiny bling from their college to try to represent their colors & show off to a girlfriend, perhaps an exciting one they met at a party while attending University.

Since building & promoting SC2tactics a year ago, I've learned a lot about life and software and 'tech.' First of all, you lose your performance anxiety. Typically young fellas are entrepreneurial & adventurous, whereas older folks are generally cautious & safe in their endeavors to avoid hurt feelings. Have to aim for the gold medal if you want to get it though :). Can't be too much of an old fogie or you'll never get anything. 'Place,' the corporate-developed social web portal, is a great example of a venture-capitalist-funded enterprise making this transition. As a representative of a sales-funded company, meaning, one that funds its operations by selling a product to customers for money, I understand the sentiment of the people who get by with bank loans or VC loans but do not share their blase attitute towards actually publishing the product & closing the sale & moving beyond spending other peoples' money. Development hell aka 'purgatory' is a trap & it is best to GTFO out of it ASAP.

While there is certainly a lot of potential greatness in the 'university professor' types, they tend to fall into the trap of NEVER LOSING the training wheels on their 'kid's bikes.' They need to upgrade to Lance Armstrong-style $2000 Cannondales to really step up their game. When I'd promote Flood-Detect last year I'd emphasize that it uses the MSP430 core to clients (3). Futurism is a great theory for sure, but you must have a real mission with concrete examples. Don't just think a lot about philosophy with other dorks that struggle with their social anxiety & their various phobias. Every college grad must prove himself.

Mobile apps are mainstream (2). Rovio, like Flextechmgmt, has already benefitted from this arena of business with their 'Angry Birds' line. Your typical network of businesses benefits from understanding basic social P's & Q's. My advice to everyone is that girlfriends & wives love to see success. Women like when you show off.
