Local public radio host got an hour with RIT laser lab folks, one of the best laser labs in the world. Good stuff. Got a question/statement in second half.

Has Google+ killed what we love about Google+?
The one distinctive feature about G+ was the ability to have real, intelligent discussions about things people were interested in. Since I've been on G+ my focus has been astrophysics. I'd post something almost every day, and folks would ask questions, or have a discussion about possible implications. It drew opposition from time to time, but over the years we grow a following of people interested in learning about and discussing topics in astrophysics. It was night and day from the low effort drive-by comments on Facebook and the like.
For example, check out the comments from a post from several weeks back on gravitational waves:
https://plus.google.com/+BrianKoberlein/posts/a9nqKTXYwAQ
Real discussion by interested people, right?
Now check out the comments on today's post about the atmosphere of an exoplanet:
https://plus.google.com/+BrianKoberlein/posts/ZTjWmZyDdFt
This is what my G+ posts have become. Anyone else notice this change? Is there any way we can get our Google+ back?
