Beauty is not a word I resonate with. So it seems ironic to me that my friend asked me to teach a segment in the upcoming School of Inner Beauty program. If it weren’t for mirrors or lenses that show us our reflection, we don’t generally look at ourselves. We have this outward lens and most of us are trapped in a negative inward projection about ourselves that leaves us stuck in shame, feelings of not good enough or feeling less than and unworthy.
That is where I spent the greater part of 30 years of my life - in this negative commentary about myself. Wearing the mask that “everything is okay on the outside, but meanwhile I am dying on the inside.” When I learned to shift my inner dialogue away from the constant critic towards the voice of self-compassion my world changed for the better. The weight of worry faded. I moved from placing emphasis on what other people thought and their opinions to giving value to my own voice, my own truth. To move to the beat of my own heart and soul versus being a people pleasing puppet on a string commanded by the voice of others. It was through this process of taming my inner critic that I found peace.
my friend Camille's "unlock your inner beauty" free online workshop started this week and it is not too late to join.
If you are curious about The School of Inner Beauty which will begin in August, and you want to have time to get a sense for if this school is something you'd like to invest time in, this is the way to do it :)

Next week on the 17, 18, and 19 of July, there will be a livestream panel with some of the teachers on FB on Body Shame, Depression and Lonliness, and Motherhood.
Thank you so much for taking the time to check this out if it resonates with you https://bit.ly/2Jf0JYD

Does Happiness Lie Within Us?
Happiness is an elusive thing- we define it as an emotion, but it’s also a feeling, and a quality. Most importantly, however, happiness is a habit. Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do”.
So if it’s happiness we’re after, it should be a habit that we practice and not a single event that we’re striving for. The important question then becomes, what are the habits we should be practicing when we’re aiming for happiness?
Habit 1: Practice Releasing Yourself From Your Own Thoughts
Did you know that thoughts are extremely sticky? One thought often leads to another thought and before we know it, we might end up in a puddle of tears...Read more: http://ow.ly/fwhw30kF6Tw

June 9, 1994 I attempted suicide. I was left in a coma, with kidney failure on dialysis. I was told I would need a kidney transplant. Now, I honor this day– as a day that, for whatever reason, I am still here, despite my best efforts. I celebrate this day as the day that the light of my spirit was sparked and I began the inward journey of healing.
This year is different than in years past as I recently had a layer of healing exposed when I was at “The Joy of Being” retreat in May. It was during Kim Eng’s Presence through Movement class Read more: http://ow.ly/HvBj30kpDcM

“The arising of what I call Presence is how the dysfunction of the human mind is transcended,” explains Eckhart Tolle. “When consciousness ‘flowers,’ then the human mind is no longer something that creates unnecessary suffering—it becomes something helpful, useful, and potentially capable of achieving miraculous things.”

Practicing Presence may be the kindest action we can take for our own growth and that of humanity—because we are all connected, as we change individually we assist in making shifts in the collective. Excited to be learning from Eckhart Tolle May 20-25 on his Canadian Joy of Being tour http://ow.ly/7ezH30k5e0b
