Only Olympus  -

Took these pics in 2008 but never shared them. They are some of my favorites from a trip to China's Gucheng in Lijiang, Yunnan Provience 雲南麗江古城. It has become quite commercial but after wandering around and getting lost in the alleys I found where the locals live. School had just gotten out and I caught these kids having fun.

Have no idea what kind of Olympus it was. Some antique that was already outdated with I bought it. Photos are unedited.

More cuts announced today. Wells Fargo cuts 2,300 jobs as they expect the number of mortgage applications to stay low or drop for the remainder of the year.
The bank cited slowing demand for refinancings amid a steady rise in interest rates over the last few months.

Just made a loan via Kiva.org to a woman in Cambodia who wants to install a bathroom in her house.
A portion of the loan helped a member to build a bathroom, which can be used comfortably by her family members.

Its an older article but just came across it. Great read for the the China Bull and Bear alike and takes a comprehensive look at China's financials.

I'm looking for a free desktop grammar checker for Mac OS. Recently switched from Microsoft Word to Mac Pages and I'm not really liking the proofreader. Any suggestions?

40 million Euro jewelry heist. Not bad for a days work. Theft occurred at the same French hotel where Hitchcock shot To Catch a Thief.

Pros: Nice interior design with a bit of an industrial, minimalist, unfinished feel. Good lighting and clean. Distinctive flavors on the menu sets it apart from other restaurants, however, to call it American is a bit farfetched. Cons: $NT1900 for 4 people and the price didn't really reflect much quality. House salad was just a few hunks of iceberg lettuce with two slivers of yellow pepper. 1.5 hour wait to get a table. Each person HAS TO order a drink or soup which I found to be quite tacky and underhanded. Each table has to get their own silverware, cups, water, and napkins and so it is hard to say that this place has good (or any) service. They also don't take credit cards or offer a receipt. Conclusion: fine place to meet with some friends but don't expect to be impressed or want to return.
