Is your child’s toothbrush as effective as it can be? If they are brushing with an old, or dirty toothbrush, then they just aren’t benefiting from brushing as much as they could be. To keep your child’s toothbrush running strong, rinse it thoroughly under cool tap water after brushing, washing the bristles clean of all debris. Replace their toothbrush every 3-4 months, so that your child brushes with functional bristles. #DentalFAQ

A great way to improve your tooth-health is by changing your drinking habits. Try eliminating sugary juices and colas and choose more mouth-healthy options. Drink more water, which helps clean teeth by washing away food debris and acid. Also, drink more milk to fight tooth decay by getting a healthy dose of casein – a protein in milk that strengthens enamel! #DentalFAQ

Chewing gum sweetened with Xylitol – a natural sugar substitute – can actually help clean teeth and prevent tooth decay. That’s because chewing Xylitol gum stimulates saliva production, which washes debris from teeth that can cause plaque and tooth decay. #DentalFAQ

If a baby tooth is lost too soon, it can lead to crowding of adult teeth, which can negatively affect bite alignment. The bottom line is that you should care for your child’s baby teeth as if they were adult teeth to help them get a healthy smile that lasts into adulthood. #ToothLove

Did you know that toothbrushes have been around since ancient Egypt? The first toothbrushes were called “chewsticks,” which were twigs that had two uses: one end was frayed by a rock and used for brushing, while the other end was sharpened and used as a tooth pick. #DentalFAQ #DentalHistory
