Carytown Cupcakes is one of the few places in Richmond that you can get vegan cupcakes. What makes the shop so much fun is that they put a lot of effort into the themes of their cupcakes, one week it might be camping and then the next it might be Harry Potter. The cupcakes are a good size for the money and the quality is simply to die for. This is one of those places that you absolutely have to stop at every time you are in Carytown.

The only good thing I can say for these cupcakes is that they cake itself was moist. Other than that they were flat in flavor. The frosting was way too sweet... The sugar crunched when I ate the frosting... Not very good.

I loved the freshness! But after refrigeration they weren't close to the same in taste.

My wife and stopped by this little quaint shop one night during our bi-weekly date night. I reluctantly went inside with her to browse for cupcakes. As we looked inside the windows of endless delicious looking treats, we decided to split an oreo cupcake. As the cupcake settled upon my taste buds, I must say I begin to be stuck in a state of chocolate euphoria like I never have before. My wife and I both took a fighters position on who would finish the last bites of this delicious treat. I would recommend this place and its cupcakes to anyone, anytime, for any occasion. By far the best cake I have ever tasted, and the customer service accompanied the pastry, which is so rare this day in time. Carytown Cupcakes! Heaven on earth!

Carytown Cupcakes has consistently delicious cupcakes. I love both the variety and the flavors. Many unusual options from which to choose, including vegan and gluten free varieties. I took cupcakes to work and everyone raved about them. I've even refrigerated the cupcakes, which were delicious once they came back to room temperature. I highly recommend the shop, its great customer service and selection, as well as its beautiful and yummy cupcakes.

Cake wasn't too bad but the frosting was terribly sweet. It just overpowered any flavor of the cake and just ruined it. They looked nice but for the price of them I expected them to awesome. Huge waste of money for a 1/2 dozen.

Just know when you go in the cupcakes that you see on their website you know the weekly flavors well... They can change them at any time and they careless about how that effects the customers. The boss that runs the place she is very rude. I have had to deal with her in other places other than her cupcake shop and she is really rude. She also told me to sit somewhere else because the seats I was in were reserved but ya know what there was no sign. Poor customer service the only good GF cupcakes they make are the Mint Milano and the salted caramel. Not worth the money I only go when I have a groupon and after i spend this groupon I will never go back.

We took my niece and her friend in there after they begged and went on and on about cupcakes. When we got in they were not even impressed and couldn't settle on a cupcake. They didn't seem to have much to choose from. I chose 6 so we could sit down and try them and my husband nudged me to look at the price- we paid almost $17 for 6 cupcakes. The little girls didn't like the frosting- at all. One at the cake part and the other did not want it at all. I ate the lemon lovers as I adore anything lemon. The frosting was decent but the cake didn't taste like anything. I guess it was vanilla. My husband was sure for the price they would blow his mind but when we got home and he ate the anticipated turtle flavor, he was disappointed. He said the cake was flavorless. We had also gone to Dixie Donuts and grabbed a half dozen adorable donuts for less that half the price of this place. They were far superior to the cupcakes. Not sure how this place even goes on.
