I'm primarily a Windows sys admin, but the first thing I do when I have an issue is grab a linux boot cd. lol I can get around Linux and the command line, but just not well versed in everything or all the various utilities, so if there is a different one that will read an NTFS volume and do a recovery, that would be awesome.
I let ddrescue run for the last 12+ hours on a 500 gig drive and I've made it through 497gb with 1 gig worth of errors. The drive was only half full, so I would be good if those errors are on blocks that are not filled with data. I just have no way of knowing until the whole thing is over...

What defines you? How do you really define anyone, or anything?
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the Lord sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.” 1 Samuel 16:7
I am a Christian, devoted husband, and caring father. My day job is software developer/IT Manager at a small software company, but my work and my hobbies no longer define who I am..
