I've admired Kevin's costume work for more than 20 years, and I'm glad he's returning to Con-Volution!

He was honored with the International Costumers Guild Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007. Kevin is the creator of Thinbot, the gold-medal winner in the robotic bartending event at Robogames, the international robotics competition, in 2012, 2013 and 2015 (there was no 2014 competion). A Jamie Hyneman mustache does not work well when eating leftover baby back ribs slathered in bbq sauce.

We may have to nuke the site from orbit.

I am honored to be able to help make this happen.

These memberships are first-come first-serve, to fans of color/non-white fans. Applicants must file with Con or Bust before September 14th at con-or-bust.org/2015/08/free-memberships-to-con-volution-available-now.

You can help support Con or Bust by spreading the word, participating in an auction, donating money, donating con memberships or other non-monetary support, or buying a T-shirt at con-or-bust.org.

11 months ago I was sitting at Con-Volution's fan table at +Kraken Con talking about the kinds of guests I'd hoped to book, and I mentioned "a woman who had edited a Southeast Asian Steampunk Anthology." I'd long since lost track of her name, until my Event Services folks surprised me by signing +Jaymee Goh on as a guest! I AM SO EXCITED!!!

Jaymee Goh is a reader, writer, editrix, critic and researcher of science fiction and fantasy. She is the steampunk postcolonialist of Silver Goggles, and her short fiction has appeared in Expanded Horizons, Crossed Genres, and Steampunk World. Her non-fiction has appeared in Steampunk III: Steampunk Revolution and the WisCon Chronicles. She is a PhD candidate at the University of California, Riverside, working on critical race theory and steampunk. Hailing from Malaysia, she has co-edited volumes such as The Omnibus of Doctor Bill Shakes and the Magnificent Ionic Pentatetrameter: A Steampunk’s Shakespeare Anthology and The SEA is Ours: Tales of Steampunk Southeast Asia. Find her at silver-goggles.blogspot.com.

I may dress as the Mayor of Townsville.

All members of Con-Volution 2015 are cordially invited to attend our DIPLOMATS’ BALL, taking place Saturday night of the convention (a little while after the Masquerade), to enjoy music, dancing, and each others’ company. Feel like dressing up? Why not arrive attired as a delegate from your favorite speculative fiction creation? The choices are nearly limitless! And by coordinating ahead of time with other attendees, you could be part of a very large delegation indeed. Go to con-volution.com/2015/convention/programming/special-events/diplomats-ball-saturday-night for more information. We hope to see you all there!
