In any kitchen, storage space will be at a premium. No matter how large their kitchen happens to be, the homeowners will invariably find that they lack adequate storage space. In a kitchen, you will typically need storage space for placing all your pots, pans, utensils and cutlery. In addition, you will need storage space for placing all your spices and other food ingredients. Lastly, you will need space for storing all the other kitchen-related products and tools that you use occasionally.

Amongst all the materials used as flooring, wood is certainly one of the most expensive. In fact, a large chunk of a homeowner’s budget for kitchen renovations will go to wood floors.

Natural wood floors are beautiful—there’s no question about that. They have this timeless and elegant look that very few flooring options can match. They also come in a variety of colours (from blond to caramel and charcoal to black) and wood grain patterns—these are what gives wood their gorgeous appeal. You can also have them stained if you want to so that they match your custom cabinets.

Wood is a very popular flooring option for many homeowners all over the world, so much so that they choose to have it installed in all flooring surfaces of their homes—from the living room to their bedrooms, and yes, even in their custom built kitchens. It is quite understandable, especially when you go online or browse through home improvement magazines and see those beautiful pictures of homes with wood flooring.

Sometimes happens that you don’t have the budget to build your ultimate dream outdoor kitchen in one go. As such, you may find yourself making compromises in certain areas for now. That doesn’t mean though that you’ll have to live with that outdoor kitchen forever.

Aside from cooking and entertaining, another thing that you will mostly be doing in your outdoor kitchen is food preparation. This is why you’ll want to make sure that you include ample space for food preparation in your design. Otherwise, you’ll spend a lot of time running back and forth to your indoor kitchen which kind of takes the fun out of an outdoor picnic

You may have a long list of appliances in mind as you plan your outdoor kitchen—grills, ovens, refrigerators or maybe even a beer tap. When it comes to choosing and buying appliances, you need to make sure that those you get are rated for outdoor use.

There are certain factors that you’ll want to consider. For one, choose materials that can withstand the rigors of the outdoor elements, like choosing stainless steel instead of wood for framing your appliances. Second, choose materials that are fire proof like brick and stone or maybe an insulated grill jacket if possible. Lastly, you may want to go for materials that are easy to clean and maintain. You won’t be able to keep oil and grease from getting all over the place, so you don’t want to make use of porous materials that easily absorbs liquid and creates a stain.
