ON A WEEK VACATION WITH ALL MY PARENTS FROM FRANCE AND MY KIDS FROM FLORIDA, WE STUMBLE UPON THE RESTAURANT ON OUR FIRST NIGHT AND WERE TREATED LIKE OLD FRIENDS BY RESTAURANT MANAGER WALTER AND THE OWNER OVER THE NEXT WEEK WE SAMPLED SOME GREAT BEERS AND SPECIALTIES FROM AUSTRIA. WHEN ASKED WHERE TO GO MY FATHER ( 83 years old) WOULD INVARIABLY REPLY "BLAUE GANS", I FEEL YOUNG THERE!! WHAT ELSE CAN I SAY? GREAT FOOD, GREAT DRINKS, GREAT ATMOSPHERE, SUPERB STAFF!

This was a second option for dinner downtown, but turned out to be a great backup, and we'll certainly return again. The decor is something else, and you have to experience it for real to get the German feel they're going for. It's eclectic and awesome all at the same time. The room is able to accommodate large groups so it could be a great place for birthdays or other parties. Make sure you try one of the beers - there are a lot of German beers on tap here that you can't find anywhere else in the city - and they also come in giant sizes! ProTip: Definitely get the schnitzel in any variety - it's a can't miss! We also had the striped bass which was done to perfection.

Good place if you want imported, especially European, beer. Pricey though.

Just been there several hours ago. As a consumer of austrian and german cuisine on a regular base, this is quiet a tasty and exclusive restaurant in New York City. The Salzburger Nockerl won't be better anywhere else, even in Salzburg

I should have looked online before checking this place out on a whim. This is not your typical German beer hall. This is nicer and more refined. The beer selection is still German and delicious, but their ambiance and layout requires you to seat at a table or hang out by the bar. This wouldn't be my top choice for celebrating Oktoberfest. Instead, it's best suited for those times when you miss Oktoberfest and want to reminisce about it over good food and beers with friends. Also, on the plus side, the last time we were here, there seemed to be plenty of folks on dates. PS - save room for dessert as their choices are divine!

We come here for Pork Wiener schniztel and wash it down with a Weihenstephaner. The perfect combination!

I guess the food is ok if you've not had the real thing in Germany/Austria - nothing special to recommend but fine if you're in the mood for a schnitzel. Nice collection of art posters on the walls give you something interesting to look at while waiting for your meal.
