There are 13 National Parks near Las Vegas, and you should try to visit every one of them, as they all have completely different aspects and features that are all spectacular.  Here is a brief last of National Parks that are driving distance from Las Vegas, and why you should visit them:
1. Sequoia and Kings Canyon: Featuring the world's largest trees.
2. Yosemite: One of the greatest concentrations of natural geological features.
3. Joshua Tree: Home to The Joshua Tree, an over-sized yucca plant made famous by U2.
4. Death Valley:  The highest temperature ever recorded (132 degrees.)
5. Canyon de Chelly: Features Pueblo built houses constructed into the red sandstone walls of the canyon.
6. Petrified Forest: 93,532 acres of petrified wood.
7. Grand Canyon: One of the most awe-inspiring scenic views in the world.
8. Great Basin: Natural limestone formations that are a true wonder to behold.  
9. Arches:  Giant pinnacles and arches that is truly beautiful.
10. Canyonlands: Rok formations, Puebloan ruins, desert flora and arches.
11. Capitol Reef: 3,900-8,800 feet of red sandstone cliffs that are capped with white sandstone domes.
12. Bryce Canyon: 56 square mile area of multi-colored cliffs that were caused by erosion. 
13. Zion:  Some of the most spectacular canyons and natural rock formations in the world.
