Lawyers who want a blog, but who do not want to blog, are turning to ghostwriters to write their blog posts. The problem is that this may violate legal ethics rules on advertising. What do you think?

- I can see "ghostwriting" as unethical if an article names a lawyer as the author and they're not, but if it's just an article coming from the firm it could be written by anybody without problem. For example, firm news letters aren't approved by every partner or member of the LLC.
I think ghostwriting is a bad idea, but that doesn't make it unethical.Jan 10, 2012
- I agree, "ghostwriting" is common in law. It's also common in other fields...like writing. Some law blogs may be advertising, but many just share and discuss legal news and the like. Calling all law blogs advertising just keeps information away from the people.Jan 11, 2012
