Introduction
Loretta Chao is a reporter for The Wall Street Journal, currently covering Brazil. Before this assignment she wrote about business and technology trends in China, the world’s largest market for Internet and mobile users, including the latest news about what companies like Google, Apple and Microsoft are doing there. Loretta also covered Chinese companies such as Tencent, Baidu, and Alibaba Group in addition to writing about public health, natural disasters, and basketball, and has done an online video series about the Beijing Olympic Games. Prior to joining the Journal in 2005, she wrote for the New York Daily News and Newsday, and produced content for Community Connect Inc., which operated three of the earliest social networking Web sites. Loretta graduated from New York University, and currently resides in São Paulo.
