Introduction
Loretta Chao covers supply chain and logistics for The Wall Street Journal in New York. She was previously a foreign correspondent for the paper in Brazil, where she wrote about the challenges and implications of the rise of Brazil's new middle class for everything from economics to public security, culture and technology. Prior to that she worked in China, where she covered the tech sector and broke award-winning stories about government efforts to monitor its citizens and control the Internet.

Before joining the Journal in 2005, she wrote for the New York Daily News, Newsday, and Community Connect Inc., which operated three of the earliest social networking Web sites.
