I've just started learning photography over the past year.  I've amassed over 12,000 photographs.  Many are friends/family/kids.  I don't necessarily want to share/store all of those publicly, but how do you organize your photos so they aren't overwhelming? How do you ensure you can always re-locate the photos you are looking for? I could really use tips in this regard.  Also, I'm rather new with Google Plus. I hope I've put this post on the right part of the community board--I'm trying to post in "Anything goes"

lightroom pretty much does the organizing for you on import to the program and allows you to do basic or comlpete editing within the software without having to load it into photoshop... though more extensive editing does require and easily works with Ps... it is quick and effective and i have had a much better time with Lr then any other program!

I was in Ethiopia and South Sudan in Feb and March of this year doing humanitarian work.  Here's a video of some of our work in South Sudan.  Includes music we recorded live in South Sudan. :) KLC South Sudan Slide Show

Do you have a "social media stategy?" How do you choose how to use Facebook, G+, Pinterest, Twitter and (heaven forbid) the rest of their ilk? I am finding myself less engaged and less interested than ever, erstwhile exceedingly frustrated by the shell game that has become online "privacy." I would be curious to hear how others tackle this, especially freelancers, and artists who rely on online exposure for opportunities.

My 12 best of 2012 here.  Most photos are unprocessed.  I think two have filters applied.  This is my first year of making more than a "family snapshot" attempt at photography. https://plus.google.com/photos/102890316830251522924/albums/5828168010805026929?authkey=CMWAvOj4g7XODg

In an attempt to further simplify, I'm going to attempt to go Outlook free over the next few months, and just use Google Calendars (which I'm not currently using).   I'm also working to reduce general office paper.  I'm curious--for those of you who manage a lot of work in small spaces, what are your tips?  My two little businesses are filling my house with paperwork, and I want to make it all stop.

What a superb comment by +Cheryl Knorr.  I'd like to emphasis how important step 6 is.  Don't spend 5 minutes on your backup strategy!  You should invest a lot of time into this and make sure that it's fool proof and rock solid.

Also, make test restores a scheduled part of your backup routine.  You haven't proven that you have a valid backup until you've restored something from it.  I'm sure that we've all read the stories of people performing backups for years without realising that their tapes were corrupt.

If you are between the ages of 30-65 and have never had cancer, you could contribute to valuable medical research on the prevention of cancer. Today, I enrolled in the CPS 3 medical study. The first of the three studies, conducted in the 1950s, made the discovery of the connection between smoking and lung cancer. Many participants are needed! See www.cancer.org for an enrollment center near you. #EndCancer

Oh, and you don't have to enroll at a walk or relay event either... they have intake clinics--mine was at our local YMCA but there was about a dozen I could choose from at different dates, times and locations.  This is a better link: http://www.cancer.org/Research/ResearchProgramsFunding/Epidemiology-CancerPreventionStudies/CancerPreventionStudy-3/cps3-locations

I was in South Sudan earlier this year, and saw the need for clean water first hand. Now I'm raising funds to dig a well, in March 2013 (which is as soon as the river recedes enough to access the village. Would you join me? It costs about $7 an inch to dig the well. http://fundly.com/jessicaward   Here's a video of the village that gets the well. KLC South Sudan Slide Show

Re-sharing so I can find and read this more completely this afternoon.

2,000 Kick Ass Photographers on Google+ Wrap Up Post

Over the course of the past year I’ve immensely enjoyed the photographic community on Google+. As I’ve met new photographers and new members I’ve maintained a circle with some of the photographers that I’ve most enjoyed following. When you make a circle or a list like this you always leave some people out. This is the downside to sharing a circle like this. For the 2,000 that you include, there are 50,000 that you exclude. Hopefully some of these people will be folks that I can reshare when this circle hits 2,500.

Over the course of the last week I've been sharing a different circle a day and wanted to do a recap post with all of the circles in it in one place to link out to other places outside of Google+

The photography community is thriving at Google+. It is a vibrant active place where photographers interact and share their work on a daily basis. Thank you to Google for giving us such a wonderful new platform and such a beautiful and exciting new way to share our work with the world.  Thank you to all photographers on G+, whether on this list or not, for making this place such an exciting place for photography!
