Looking Spick & Span!

It’s not always about the hard word at Sea.
Big thanks to the super support & work by the #MarlowNavigation crew of BBC Challanger with Marship Management; many times under demanding conditions & long hours here in the shipyard of Shanghai, China. But the results speak for themselves. Well done all!

Pilotage Relations Course – Are you up to the challenge?

Three Masters from the #MarlowNavigation full management fleet recently proved that they can take on a challenge when faced with difficult pilotage situations.
They spent four days at Kherson Maritime Specialized Training Center (KMSTC +юрий филиппов) in Ukraine in the bridge simulators. Working as a closed-knit bridge team, each playing the role of Master, Chief Officer and Helmsman, they were given a number of challenging exercises to do with a Pilot coming on-board. An experienced pilot from the local port of Kherson joined in on the exercises.
The challenge was not so much ship handling skills, but dealing with the Pilot on-board and the various problem that might arise, such as over-confident Pilots, bad communications and errors, but also best practice for bridge management, ship handling procedures, passage planning and hydrodynamics.
Each exercise takes around 45 minutes followed by a full debrief and Q&A session. This is a four day course and runs frequently throughout the year.

Have you got what it takes when it comes to ship pilotage? Come and take the challenge!

+CMA CGM VIP tour on Marlow Full Management Vessel

CV2800 container ship 'Violet' under Marlow Technical Management recently hosted a VIP visit from CMA CGM customers while at the port of Noumea in New Caledonia.

The visit included a tour of the bridge, deck and parts of the engine room, as well as a live demo of a lifeboat safety drill and the container’s unloading operation at the port.

The vessel’s Captain explained the ship's route from North Europe across the Atlantic Ocean, through the Panama Canal and across the Pacific Ocean, a distance of almost 11,700 nautical miles with the voyage taking about 25 days at a cruising speed of 19.5 knots.

This container vessel on charter to CMA CGM is carrying manufactured goods, industrial and agricultural products, chemicals, steels and other goods in containers as well as significant numbers of chilled and deep frozen reefer containers containing wines, meats, cheeses and other dairy products on this outbound voyage and will make further port calls in Australia and New Zealand.

Crew Inspections provide the vital link & personal connection to our #seafarers & crew managed vessels.

At #MarlowNavigation, this has long been an essential part of our crewing service. Depending on the vessel's trading area, we endeavour to see all ships at least once per year.
