Did you know that leopard pee smells like buttered popcorn? Or what the word is for that pleasant smell that frequently accompanies the first rains?

Proud to be a part of this amazing #conservation team!
Successful morning for +Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife, +The Endangered Wildlife Trust, Wildlands & Wildlife ACT Fund who have been up since 1:30am relocating a wild dog!

In Nov 2014, five wild dogs were released on #Somkhanda Game Reserve (3 females & 2 males). Sadly, all the females have died (2 from snares & one from natural causes). Without stabilising the pack with a new female, there is a high risk of the 2 adult males (and pups) dispersing.

The new female from Hluhluwe–iMfolozi Park has been fitted with a state-of-the-art anti-snare VHF collar and is on her way to the Somkhanda boma. We will be closely monitoring her and the rest of the pack in the weeks to come.

A very big round of applause for the team!
