Hungry for #kitkat ?  Looks like there's some very active development going on over at XDA for our Galaxy Tab 7.7s still... including two or three KitKat builds that look promising...

Looks like Verizon hasn't completely forgotten our little tablet...

May this be a sign of good things to come, especially since, as noted in a previous post, Verizon is still refurbishing and reselling these tablets in the US!
Owners of Verizon's Galaxy Tab 7.7 (that AMOLED tablet we loved to death over here at SamMobile), your electricity bill ...

I use my tablet as a Library, all of my .pdf's and Kindle files are on it. I downloaded GrooveIP to it so I could get the phone call feature on it but, it nice to see that this device gets some love so long after its release. This tablet was huge in China specifically the 9800 model because it had the phone mic & receiver built in. I think this is still a worthwhile tablet even today.

Wishing you had one of these great tablets?  In the United States, Verizon Wireless has just a few refurbished units available for sale now!

Slim and light, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 is designed to be the hub of your media system. The 7.7–inch HD display will please movie buffs, while a preloaded app suggests shows for TV fans of all stripes. Video chat with friends using the front–facing webcam and connect to the Internet with the speed of 4G LTE.

Make sure you have your Automatic Updates enabled on your 7.7!  Although Kitkat may not be in the cards for us, we do have Jellybean...

Could please anybody explain why this page for a more than two year old Android device is being joined by 2 to 3 new followers every single day? Those people can't be genuinely interested.

I'm one of those new followers. And I'm seriously interested because, even with a notepro 12.2 at hand, this little precious thing is worth gold still.
And it still is in demand though badly supported by the manufacturer. So there's the new seriously interested batch.
(I suppose ... )

After several weeks with the 4.2.2 Pacman ROM I'm now back to 4.1.2 stock ROM, which works much more fluently and more stable. It also comes with the tablet UI which I prefer over the phone UI.

Have you heard about the new Galaxy Note 8.0?
This might be the successor of our beloved 7.7 even if it's not even almost as beautiful as the one year old predecessor.
The Note 8.0 comes with a 8.0" screen and as its siblings, the Note 2 and Note 10.1, with a Wacom digitizer and suitable SPen. From the Note 2 it also inherited the innards, it's pretty much a big Note 2 (while the 7.7 was/is a big Galaxy S2), which means it also uses a quad core Exynos processor with 1.6GHz and 2GByte of RAM. The screen is - oddly enough - not AMOLED but TFT with the same (nowadays not very adequate) resolution of 1280x800 which it also shares with the other Notes. The Note 8.0 is as thin as the 7.7 (7.9mm) but slightly larger. While the 7.7 is at the very width limit for being held to the ear with only one hand for making a phone call, the 8.0 is even 14mm wider. It "only" comes with Android 4.1.2 by the way but I'm sure it will be updated very soon to 4.2. But that's it then, probably. We all now that.
The Note 8.0 is on show at the MWC (Mobile World Congress) right now and has just been unveiled yesterday.

Yay - I finally made the break and got a nexus 7 gen 2. 32g.  Whew.  Such a relief to be rid of the terrible touchwiz software and ancient version of android that hobbled the 7.7 right from the start.  It will update effortlessly to Key Lime/Kitkat or whatever as soon as it's available. Big advantages are the multi-tasking and ability to use "heavy" websites - no freeze ups.  Lesson learnt.  Never buy anything that relies on Samsung software.

No weaknesses observed on my Tab battery yet :) (Actually it is starting to become a problem - difficult to justify buying a new tablet :))

Just had a look on Ebay for prices for the 7.7, here in the UK it's still around £100 to £150, depending on condition and version, that's more than I'd thought! I'll keep mine anyway.

There are lot of gorgeous devices out there and they become more and more. The 7.7 has never been a very snappy device despite its rather good hardware (at least back then). But today it's not really up to the job anymore, I only use it as an alarm clock or for watching YouTube. For everything else I've got my Galaxy Mega 6.3, a 10" Windows tablet and my "big" laptop...

I'm using the Thai variant of the official 4.1 ROM atm but am still not really happy with it. It leaves only very little free memory and is pretty choppy sometimes. Transitions are much better than with the original HC or ICS but in the end we might have to live with the not-so-buttery animations. It's only a dual core processor after all and the hardware-wise very similar Galaxy SII is not much better.
