So the bad news came with the good.

On 9/11/2014 I experienced my first significant climbing injury. I managed to partially tear my left ring finger's A2 pulley. Looks like now I have even more work to do to meet my goals for next year than I realized.

On 9/12/2014 Shanna's water broke unexpectedly.

On 9/13/2014 Shanna gave birth to our baby girl, Julia Marie.

It's been one helluva year...

Is this where the sport of rock climbing is headed? I guess it does look pretty exciting, but as a climber, I don't know how I feel about it...

I finally went on my first outdoor bouldering trip!  Jared showed me around Coopers Rock ( http://www.mountainproject.com/v/coopers-rock-state-forest/107035297 ) yesterday. In all, I sent almost everything I tried (in order) v2, v3, v4, and 3 v5's.

Round House v5:

Pretty hard problem with bad feet. I think getting to the first bolt of European Vacation 5.12b is harder.

Ships Prow v5:
http://www.mountainproject.com/v/ships-prow/107495224

Powerful & tension-y crimp rail out of a roof to a jug, then a high left heel and big throw to the finish sloper/jug. I think the last throw on Ships Prow is easier than the crux throw on Don Miron, which is sandbagged silly at 5.11c.

Anti-Elvis v5? Variation:

Last climb of the day. Didn't think it was going to go, but I managed to pull the last desperate move to the finish jug on my last attempt.

Green Block Test Piece v5+:

http://www.mountainproject.com/v/107035405

I got shutdown on this one. I think I could have worked it out eventually, but it requires a great deal of torque on one middle finger... Given that it wasn't really my style, and I didn't have anything to prove, I threw in the towel pretty quickly.

Had an awesome time. Thanks, Jared!
