Now Available Online: Issue 4 of Irish building magazine
The latest issue of Irish building magazine is now available to read in full online. The issue is packed with interviews and news from Ireland and abroad, covering the CIF, Safety, Skills, Construction Law, BIM, Lean, and much more.
Safety is a key topic in the issue, we look at industry leaders in the area, John Paul Construction. In the Experts and Analysis section you can read about construction law topics and the CIF Vision 2027.
Dominic Doheny is the incoming CIF President and he discusses his vision for the industry. We spoke to the CIF about the skills shortage in the Irish Construction Industry and the recommendations of the DKM report: Demand for Skills in Construction to 2020, and we also talked to recruitment and training experts about skills demands.
In the Irish Abroad Series, Dorothy Jones tells us about the Irish in Germany and her experiences of the German and Irish construction industries. You can read about Midlands Steel and its activities in Ireland and the UK and the company’s BIM work in an interview with Managing Director Tony Woods.
In national BIM news, we have a full feature on the Irish BIM Innovation Awards with interviews with CitA’s Dr Alan Hore, the winners and shortlisted companies’ representatives. There is also a report on the BICP BIM Study, with positive news for Irish BIM adoption.
Women in BIM (WiB) has launched a database of women around the world who work in BIM. Irish building magazine continues to highlight Women in Construction and talked to three Irish WiB members: Louise Kelly, Avril Behan, and Emma Hayes, and Founder and Chairperson Rebecca De Cicco about the organisation and its work, and the coverage and representation of women in construction.
The issue features interesting interviews with Dr Eugenio Pellicer on Lean Construction in Spain, and Yusuf Akcayoglu and Dr Ozan Köseoglu on the Istanbul Grand Airport project. Istanbul Grand Airport (IGA) is the world’s largest airport project, and BIM is critical for its construction.
There are also articles on Exactal, Coastway Surveys, Murphy Surveys and an interview with Autodesk Strategist Dominic Thasarathar. Irish building magazine was present at the opening of the new Ridgeway depot in Ashbourne, County Meath, and talked to Managing Director Stephen Kane about the company’s products and services.
