The hostess was extremely RUDE! I was very excited to try out this place for dinner because of the good reviews. Stood in line for 20 minutes waiting for the hostess, people in the line were all confused how the restaurant works with getting the table because she was nowhere to be found. When she came, she was moody and went "name and number" and told me that it would take 1 hour 30 minutes for a table. I didn't give her my details because I wanted to ask my friend first what we should do, since we were leaving Boston that evening. I turned back to her just to confirm again the waiting time. I do not know what got to her, she went all bitchy and told me to leave. All I did was take few seconds to make a decision before I gave her my details. She was classless. And she totally spoilt my opinion for Neptune Oyster because it makes me wonder why they hire such service women to run their restaurant.

Best burger I have ever had. The combination of flavors, especially with the fried oysters was incredible. Was nice balance to start with raw oysters and then shift to something more substantial. Service was great, the waitress warned us off a particular wine choice and insisted that we taste it before ordering it, which was very nice. Cozy atmosphere is worth the wait.

Boston: Day 6, lunchtime They were good, yet they did not achieve my expectations. On the day we went to The Daily Catch, we originally planned on going there. The reason we did not dine there was because we had to wait for two hours before we could get our seats! We only had to wait for fifty minutes at The Daily Catch, so naturally, one would expect Neptune Oyster House to be not just good, but REALLY good. First up: New England Clam Chowder. How was it? Good. Chewy potatoes, fresh, whole oysters, etc., I really cannot think of a problem with it. It just did not WOW me, if you know what I am saying. Next, I forgot what it was called (I think it was called a piggyback); but whatever it was, it was good. It was actually my favorite dish ordered, surpassing both the lobster roll and the clam chowder. Raisins, fried, crispy oysters, and some leafy greens were all piled upon a piece of bread. What you see beside the piggyback is the lobster roll. It came with a side of fries and some ketchup. Here is a better photo. The bread was okay; it was semi-chewy, not over-baked; overall, it was not too bad. The lobster was quite fresh, but I think they could have used a little less butter. Overall rating: 6/10 points. Good, but is it worth a two hour wait? I do not think so. If you can get in at lunchtime when they have less people, I would say go. Just to let you know, I personally am not a big fan of lobster rolls nor clam chowders. I can eat them, but (most of the time) I do not especially like them. Neptune Oyster House did a really good job in making them, so if you are a fan of these types of food, then go. My review may be a bit prejudiced.

Sorry, the restaurant was nearly empty on this Friday afternoon, plenty of seats at the bar and yet I was told it would be a 45 minute wait for a seat at that empty bar! People just ahead of me (party of 2) were told 30 minutes. Horrible attitude from both the women staff i interacted with. Yeah, they may have great chowder but there are other places close by that i expect will be happy to take my business and treat me better.

one of the best spots in Boston's North End for some lobstuh. I heard it gets full early so I headed down there relatively early and managed to catch the last bar stool. I decided on the hot lobster roll with butter over the cold version with mayo. It was a little on the pricey end at $27 but the portions was very fulling. Huge chunks of lobster tail and claw. make sure you hit up mike's pastry or across the street for a cannoli.

Excellent food but unfortunately not at the level you'd expect considering all the hype. The wine list contains some good French Sauvignon Blancs to go with dinner.

Great little spot on the north end. They don't take reservations. I would highly recommend you come early (1-2hrs) and put your name down for a table.... then go to some of the local bars in the area for drinks or walk over to Quincy market and do a little sightseeing. The Food: Oysters and lobster rolls. That's what they are known for and they do that well. I had clam chowder, I was expecting it to be creamier, it wasn't... but it was good. My friend ordered some type of fish dish, they came out with a whole fish, that thing was huge! Also shared some oysters that were good, usually I'm not a big fan of oysters, but i can say these were pretty good. I also had the lobster roll. Thing had a ton of lobster, I ordered it warm with butter, it was yummy. It comes with a ridiculous side of french fries - that was the only bad thing they served. Bunch of limp french fries, just doesn't match the rest of the meal... they weren't terrible, but compared to the rest of the food, not good. The prices were high and the wait is long... I knew that before I went, but if those are big concerns for you... there are probably other spots you can find that are cheaper (just don't ask me, I'm not from Boston!)

Came here for Valentine's day and I recommend their clam chowder. Best clam chowder I have ever had. It was light and not "flour-y", if that makes sense. Their seafood is also to die for. I'm not an oyster fan, but I know everyone else was enjoying their oysters.
