You need to get there right when it opens to get a spot. If not, you'll probably be waiting 1-2 hours for a seat. We showed up right when it opened at lunch and got in right before the wait started creeping to 1 hour. Oyster selection was good. Had the lobster roll. Was good, but I've had better in town. Fun small place to check out while in town.

My boyfriend and I were visiting from Connecticut and by the way of google learned that Neptune had the best lobster roll in Boston. So, naturally, we decided to make a trip. cared When we first walked in, every pair of eyes were on us. The waitress approached us and was not blatantly rude but she definitely was not hospitable either. She told us that there would be a two hour wait and proceeded to write our phone number down onto the waiting list. So we left and decided to continue to explore Boston while we waited for her phone call. About two hours later, we were told that a table was being held for us. As we were walking to the restaurant, there was a crowd standing on front of the entrance waiting to added onto the waiting list. When the crowd of Caucasian noticed a couple of African American descent walking towards the entrance, they closed ranks and would not let us by. We explained that we were called to come in after being on the waiting list and we were not " cutting the line ". Despite our explanations, we literally had to shove our way in. Once we made it in, after all of the shoving and looks of disgusts, the waitress barely looks at us when she asks us to wait in the corner. We stood in the corner for approximately 20 minutes while she helped every other patron sign onto the waiting list. We were seated and a group of Caucasian females looked at us distastefully and proceeded to pick up their purses and pass it to the end of their table that was opposite of my boyfriend and I. We each ordered the clam chowder and lobster roll which were amazing, but would have tasted better if our waitress actually cared about our dining experience and stopped by our table every now and again. Aside from serving us our food, she didn't ask us if we needed anything else or if we were satisfied. We also realized that as the other patrons were leaving and were being replaced with those that were on the waiting list, the waitress made it a point to make sure that every single other table was filled before seating another couple beside us. In summary, I have never felt so " Black" in my life. My boyfriend and I are both professionals with a very respectable appearance. I am in part upset with myself for allowing others too make me feel so little. It was very apparent that having those of color in the restaurant was as foreign to them as aliens. They were so rude and dismissive and I will never forget how ambushed we felt just trying to make it into the restaurant. I would advise those who run the day to day operations of Neptune to be cautious. One day someone may be recording their experiences and it may make it into the news. Ever since we've been back home, we have told everyone of our experience. It is appalling how disgusting a community can still be in the year 2015.

Worth the long wait for a table, this place delivers the goods on fresh Atlantic seafood. Their fish and chips is consistently amazing as are their raw bar selections. If uni toast is on the blackboard, get it.

We had the lobster roll (hot with butter) and it was AMAZING. We went on a Tuesday night around 7 to put our name in, and ended up waiting about an hour and 45 minutes. If you go here expect a pretty decent wait. If you go pretty much any time after 7, it will be too late and they won't be able to put your name down. (The restaurant seats only about 30 or so). They will call you when your table is ready however. The wait staff was extremely nice, we had to wait a few extra minutes for our roll, so our waitress gave us free fried clams.. (which were just as amazing as the lobster roll, I'd also recommend these ). Again, expect to wait for a seat..but it's worth it!!

As long a quoted wait time as I have ever heard of. The hostess had not trouble telling a group of 5 behind us that the wait would be 3 1/2 hours. We waited 2 1/2 hours. So, when you don't take reservations and give out quotes like this, you better be able to back it up with great food. They did. My wife and I each got the Lobster Roll hot with butter. Look, if you like Lobster Rolls, this is THE ONE. 'Nuff said.

So read that you needed to wait long, took the cab over and it was true. So we had time and wanted to see what it was all about!!!! When I say it is worth the wait, it is worth the wait. We had oysters, the amazing Spaghetti with Lobster and warm lobster roll. Staff was amazing!!! Can wait to come back to Boston and come back again. We so picked the right place tonight!!!!

Best oyster place ever! Very fresh. Try to go during lunch on a weekday because the lines can get crazy at night.
