Solution to fix broken HTML5 MP3 and M4A Firefox audio in Ubuntu, Ubuntu-Gnome, Ubuntu-Mate and Lubuntu.

Test sites: (1) https://html5test.com/
(2) http://hpr.dogphilosophy.net/test/
(3) http://www.gooplusplus.com/jukebox

SYNAPTIC - add gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly

Ubuntu Software Center - add Gstreamer extra plugins

BTW, Xubuntu and Kubuntu Firefox HTML5 audio already works fine and plays MP3 and M4A files (instead of downloading).

After some more testing, a better solution may be to install gstreamer1.0-libav and not gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly. Both solutions worked when tested with Ubuntu-Mate.

Linux Lite 2.4 looks very polished but there is a bug in how you have set up Firefox. This bug does not happen in Xubuntu Firefox or Windows Firefox and it does not happen with Chromium.

HTML5 streaming radio does not work correctly for http://www.gooplusplus.com/jukebox or this 12-station subset http://m.gooplusplus.com/?only=K1-K7-M1-M2-M4-M8-M9-W1-W4-W8-X6-Z3

Only direct file-link pseudo-stations Z1-ZZ work in Linux Lite 2.4.

Unlike Xubuntu and Kubuntu, Ubuntu-Mate along with the other buntus, fails the HTML5 Firefox Audio (MP3) tests.

Test sites: (1) https://html5test.com/
(2) http://hpr.dogphilosophy.net/test/
(3) http://www.gooplusplus.com/jukebox

There is a simple fix: add gstreamer1.0-libav

Note: this was not enough to fix the same problem with Linux Lite 2.4, so a temporary fix that works for Linux Lite Firefox is to add gstreamer1.0-plugins-ugly

FYI: This is NOT a "community" distribution. In fact, several in the Crunchbang community were annoyed at using the Crunchbang name for this project.

http://crunchbang.org/ -- note reference to future successor Bunsen Labs Linux
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=39049
https://github.com/BunsenLabs
http://www.reddit.com/r/BunsenLabs/

Note: I have no connection with #!++ or BunsenLabs. I started using Crunchbang back in 2008 but moved on years ago. My main interest in Crunchbang was in the general minimalist philosophy and #! forums more than the distro itself.
