NYAJoe’s is anything BUT average. We’re a neighborhood place, relaxed enough to stop in as you are but with cuisine so creative, you can tell it comes from a chef.

I walked into this place with a real chip on my shoulder. I was thinking it'd stink, but Stellina's was closed for my late pre-siesta lunch. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't have nuthin' against old people, but I don't want to sit at a bar with the demographic of this area, since I normally live downtown (house sitting). (I still think I'm 25.) I see a back bar with some cool lookin' young people and plop my fatarsey on a stool. Bam, this wicked hot blonde chick comes up to me and asks if she can help me. Yeah, babe, with like my whole life. But I digress. And BTW, every dude who works there is hot, and they all have awesome bums, except for one skinny dude, who is ironically the second hottest. So I order the salmon. I'm thinking this is going to disappoint me in every way possible. Just eat, shut up and leave--and don't be a growly old man. (I'm 43.) I got my as handed to me. The salmon is on par with my (Best of Brian's Boston) salmon at Metropolis Cafe in the South End and the creme brulee was to die for, to put it like Cam would on Modern Family (flutter that hand, girl; you go, girl). Blown away, I ordered the haddock to see if I wasn't dreaming. Bam! Knocked it out of the ballpark again. Now the best part is that the service was over-the-top. Free side of eye candy, best manager I've ever seen in action and the staff cohesion was beyond my wildest dreams. (I work for myself as a consultant in professional and organizational development.) I should also mention that I'm an epic foodie. I've eaten at every restaurant in Boston multiple times. So why not 6 stars, and just 5? The menu I got was a tad greasy and so was the bar in front of me. But everything else was spackling. Just not the best intro for a grumpy old bitter gay man in a bad mood. Just teasin'. I'm actually pretty cheery for like two hours a day, every other day. So if you want a great meal with a side of eye candy and a slice of service perfection--get YOUR fatarsey in a seat at Joe's. Oh, and they have a kiddie menu, which is kind of cool. It seems like the best choice for families in the tri-state area. As my niece would say, "I'll have the grilled cheese without the cheese." Let's see. What else? Oh, not like a chain at all. Independent/privately owned and stealthily run. Feels local. The people at the bar were probably my age, but they weren't hot like me. Because you have not laughed once reading this review, I will tell you that I like to run up those steep hills in Beacon Hill during the summer and get all sweaty. If I trot by a couple and the gal part checks me out (always!), I always start singing, "Dontchu wish your boyfriend was hot like me..." Yup.

pretty good! I order the steak tips, and they came out exactly how I ordered them (Medium well or well, I forget.), which is rare to happen. 4/5 with just that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Great atmosphere in this place. Not too loud but friendly. Food was very good. The salmon with balsamic vinaigrette was delicious. Lots of different options as well. It was our first time and we got a bunch of $5 off coupons for next time. TImely service too!

Despite what the name suggests, this restaurant is pretty average. I gave them an extra star because the service is above average, and they offer gluten free options. The food won't wow you, but the portions and prices are pretty fair and the atmosphere is nice for having a dinner with a group of friends. They have a full bar, and a somewhat open kitchen in the back which is interesting to watch depending on where you are sitting. They do get busy on some nights, so you may want to make a reservation ahead of time. There is a large parking lot for patrons to use in the back of the restaurant.

Not Your Average Joes is a family favorite! I have tried many things on the menu and all have been delicious! They have been very accommodating of those I was with who had food allergies and even have warm bread that is gluten free! Would highly recommend!

Another great branch of this local chain. Great atmosphere. Small outdoor section out back. Our food was very good. It's hard to gush over a turkey burger and mediterranean salad, but my meal was excellent.

Excellent fare for a chain restaurant. Service is good, atmosphere is funky, and the menu has something for the whole family.
