Grabher Const

For 26 years the Sun Valley Ski Education Foundation has occupied the second floor of the Greyhawk building at the base of Warm Springs. But this summer, three long-time SVSEF supporters - Steve Shafran, Kipp Nelson, and Jack Bunce - bought a third-floor condominium in the Greyhawk building which they are now leasing to the SVSEF for $1 per year. the space was under remodel all summer with Michael Blash as the architect on the project, construction by Grabher Construction and Jennifer Hoey designing the interior. Also on the construction side, but described as "the best project manager imaginable" by SVSEF Executive Director Rob Clayton, was Morley Golden. Other major subcontractors included Garrett Ironworks, Interior Contractors, De Novo Painting, Brennan's Carpets, Roberts Electric, Thornton Mechanical, Wilro Plumbing, Soundwave, and Sentinel Security. Many of these businesses offered their services as an in-kind donation or at a greatly reduced cost.
And the remodel couldn't have come sooner. In 2007, athlete enrollment was at an all-time high of 500 with 66 coaches to boot. The previously 3,600 square-foot training center was simply not big enough. Executive Director Rob Clayton says about the remodel, "The upgrade is infinitely better than what was here. It raises the professional appearance of the organization....which creates a sense of confidence and team spirit to show that we really are cutting-edge. As an Olympic training site, we can now house and host Olympic athletes and do justice to the designation."
