Tomorrow, for the first time ever, the Clarion Ledger is publishing my column in its print edition. Call me old fashioned, but this is quite a milestone for me. The column is already up on the site, and I've been published there for several weeks now, but this...this is PRINT, people. In an actual newspaper.

The column on the site is called Sex Education: Doing it All the Time (because I was feeling cheeky). The print version is slightly shorter and has a different title, but the premise is that parents should be having an ongoing conversation ("all the time") with children about sex and related topics as opposed to a singular "talk" at the onset of puberty. I also talk about my long-suffering mother and take a parenthetical swipe at Baptists.

If you like it, please share the link or recommend it. If you hate it, please leave a comment at the site so we can talk about it. And if you're in the area, buy a copy!

Here, I wrote some Personhood snark for you...

"The noble advocates for life want women to know that they are only trying to help. By lobbying to remove all exceptions for abortion, including life of the mother, they are sending us a message of love: they don’t’ want to control us; they just want to stop us from making a mistake."

Excellent. Now, where's my #hovercraft?

Unlike bullets or missiles, lasers are particularly well suited for taking down small, swift, highly-maneuverable targets that a physical projectile would struggle to hit.

A new Personhood Ballot Initiative was filed in Mississippi today. In preparation of Round 2, I'm dusting off the RRnR blog and uploading my online columns on Personhood. This one appeared in July 2012 on The Clarion-Ledger website.
There are no popularity contests in small towns. Everyone already knows you, your parents, where you live, and what church you attend—unless you don’t go at all, in which case you are probably on the ...

Well, I read the article. It isn't exactly Shakespeare, but it didn't suck. I'm sending it to my friend. So there, Mr. Cranker McCrankypants.

New column is up: Mississippi is not your metaphor

"One of my most vivid memories comes from 1979. I was playing outside with my little brother when several white-clad men occupied the busy intersection right in front of our house to stop traffic and solicit donations. My mother quickly called us inside. Her voice was stern and she looked frightened."
