Prestigious University Challenge Awards Innovative Hail Suppression Project
 
The University Challenge is one of the highlights of the annual European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC). This special prize rewards innovative ideas emerging from Europe's universities. In 2014, the University of Applied Sciences Rosenheim (Germany) won over the international expert jury with its hail suppression project RO-BERTA. http://bit.ly/1zlLR0k

For the first time in 2014, the Satellite Masters Conference will accompany the annual Awards Ceremony of Europe's major innovation competitions for space applications - the European Satellite Navigation Competition (ESNC) and Copernicus Masters. The most exciting awardees will present their business cases during the conference, along with entrepreneurial success stories recounted from previous competitions and the European Space Agency's Business Incubation Programme. The Satellite Masters Conference is much more than just a networking event: It is a unique marketplace for sharing innovations for space-based technologies and infrastructures and connecting with the world's leading network for downstream satellite business.

Early bird rate for European Navigation Conference 2014 available till 15 February
The ESNC 2014 International Kick-Off will be held in Rotterdam in line with the European Navigation Conference (ENC). Admission is free for the ESNC Kick-off session, but if you would like to attend the entire conference programme you are invited to make use of the early bird rate by registering via www.enc-gnss2014.com before 15 February 2014.

Last night, the winners of the ninth European Satellite Navigation Competition have been awarded in Munich. The overall winner – the Galileo Master 2012 –and regional winner of Portugal is an innovative joint project aiming to offer seamless, reliable navigation even indoors by means of ultra-low-frequency magnetic field communication (ULF-MC). Accepting the title of Galileo Master 2012 on behalf of Fraunhofer Portugal and the University of Porto’s Faculty of Engineering (FEUP) was Dirk Elias.
