Why hire a professional to perform lawn care in Spring Tx and The Woodlands? When you use our services, you’re not just getting your lawn mowed – your lawn will be taken care of. For example, we only use 30″ walk-behind mowers. This means that your lawn won’t get destroyed by heavy ride-on lawn mowers, which can crush the soil and leave your yard worse for the wear.

We Mulch!
 Lawn fertilization tomball
Fall is upon us and winter is fast approaching. It is time to prepare your yard for the long haul. Of course, GreenGate Turf has you covered for lawn fertilization if you are in Tomball, the Woodlands, or Spring. However, we also have a nice fall treat for the rest of your yard: quality composted mulch.

Mulch is the name for any covering for your grounds, but we use compost. Why do we offer compost mulch? Because we love your yard. Mulch will, first and foremost, help you cut back on the amount of water you have to use. Texas is not known for wetness, even in the winter, and mulch protects the ground over your roots from evaporation.

Compost mulch will slowly decompose over time and leach nutrients to your hungry plants over the fall. This slow feeding will brighten up your plant beds. It will also keep bugs off your roots. Compost mulch hides the plant's most vulnerable bits from foraging pests and it buries the creepy-crawlies lurking on the ground so that they can't find your flowers.

Our mulch provides a barrier to weeds, blocking the sunlight they need to take over your flower beds. We want to preserve your back from all that weeding.

Probably the part that we like best is just how pretty your yard will look once we have applied our mulch. It just livens everything up.

As you can see, we strive to give your yard as much care as your lawn. Ask about our mulch and other services anytime.

Lawn Care In The Woodlands

The end of August brings thoughts of the Autumn days ahead.  Pumpkin Spice Lattes, trick-or-treating, and raking leaves all start to take center stage in one's mind, but before you dive head first into that huge pile of imaginary leaves, you need to consider the damage done to your lawn by the unforgiving Summer.  This past season may have brought excessive drought, moisture, or bug infestation.  In order to minimize damage and preserve your lawn into the cooler months ahead, consider the importance of aeration.  The transition from Summer to Fall is the ideal time to pursue this lawn care in The Woodlands, so we have contrived the top reasons why aeration is essential for the health of your lawn.

Rejuvenates the root system.  The roots of the grass are the main channels that deliver oxygen, water and nutrients.  Aeration opens up these channels to better allow the vitals to be delivered to the grass.
Allows for natural nutrient replenishment.  If a soil sample shows a lack of any particular nutrient, aerating the lawn will allow that missing nutrient to be naturally relocated back into the soil.  This method is much more effective than sprinkling the nutrient on top and hoping it will seep down with watering.
Removes thatch.  Summertime watering can lead to excessive thatch.  Aeration will eradicate thatch naturally, even though it may take more than one application.
Allows for more seed growth.  In an already overpopulated lawn, throwing seed on the ground will unlikely take root.  After aeration, natural seed beds are made allowing the seed to have ample room for growth.
This lawn care method is especially important with warm season grasses such as St. Augustine, Bermuda, or Zoysia.  It is close to the beginning of Fall when these particular grasses start to become dormant, so be conscientious of time, and allow your lawn to recover before the change occurs.
