Each year, two (or three) apps swap in or out of the Top 15 list, while particular apps may migrate up or down the list. What’s striking to me, however, is that the top 15 apps list has been surprisingly stable during a period of accelerating change and market upheaval.

The company just launched what it’s calling Microsoft Business Bots through it’s Bot Framework. Right now it’s only available for restaurants. Eventually however most categories of local businesses (and enterprises) will have access to these capabilities.

The survey of 2,000 US adults found that 92 percent of respondents said they made a purchase after visiting Yelp, “at least sometimes, frequently or almost always.”

The promise to developers is that they could “easily integrate AR features” into existing websites. However, this is built into a experimental version of Chrome that is not yet generally available, though it’s available to developers on GitHub.

Yesterday, in a Google I/O session called “Building Apps for the Google Assistant,” company speakers outlined the three primary ways that developers can get their Assistant apps in front of users. Google’s Vera Tzoneva also spoke broadly about some Assistant app ranking factors that might apply when there are multiple apps that can fulfill a request.

The report says that it will be presented as a “free, standalone app” that can be downloaded from the App Store. It’s not clear whether it will be an update of the Google app or a new app called Google Assistant. The report also says that it will integrate with other Google apps installed on users’ iPhones.
