Having seen the 50th, here's a hopefully interesting, slightly spoilery, question...

Ok, we now know they found an alternate solution so they wouldn't have to use the Moment.

So where is it now?

I think it's probably safe to assume that the Doctor now has it hidden somewhere safe in the TARDIS.  But is it really safe there?  Or anywhere?  It seemed to be really good at manipulating time and space.  Maybe it's just wherever it wants to be.  ;)

Then again, she never actually moved anything...
Maybe she only has time (and galaxy eating) powers and needs someone else to transport her...

Greetings from a newbie.
Does anyone know how to share a document with a community?
Specifically, I'm trying to set up a recommended reading list to share which can easily be found by newcomers and oldtimers and which moderators can update from time to time.
Or is there a more mundane way to do this?
Thanks.

Hey Chris. Sharing a document with a community is no problem. You can just link to it after setting the document sharing settings to "anyone with the link". Then copy the link and post it wherever you like. Then even people without a Google account can edit it.

I set up a sample doc for you:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BinswydBlTWxfuvAJ9NURA5uXf1tTGrPSvKA2Kk_DXc/edit?usp=sharing

Just try it without being logged in to your Google Account.

I recently got a Kindle and I'm wondering what people here would put on a skeptical reader's list of must reads?

I'm thinking a couple obvious ones would be Carl Sagan's Demon Haunted World and James Randi's Flim-Flam.  Maybe some from a historical perspective like Doubt by Jennifer Hecht.

I have the above and more in dead tree form and I'm wondering what would be good to add to my Kindle.

Also, what are some good books for teaching logic and critical thinking?

My book suggestion is "The Logic of Life - The Rational Economics of an Irrational World" by Tim Harford.  It isn't what I would think would be considered a traditional skeptical book, but I feel that it fits in with skeptical thinking.  Tim Harford points out in many ways how easy it is to view things (ie, how people act in certain situations) as right or wrong without really examining what the data is telling us. I often will put on my thinking hat when anything that smells of pseudo-science approaches, but I find that I don't apply as much thought when it comes to judging people's actions. This book helped me to be less quick to judge, and more apt to consider the situation that surrounded a person's actions.

A quick question. I just got a dual charger for my controllers. Is it ok to leave them in the charger all the time or will this decrease battery life or have other bad effects?

Leave them in the charger and they will be fine. Mine usually break before the battery goes bad and I leave them plugged in.

Newbie question here:
I really want to cut my tv cable as it's getting expensive.
I don't have a Google TV setup yet as I'm not really sure where to start.

What I do have is a Tivo and a PlayStation 3.  Currently I switch between the Tivo for regular TV and the PS3 for Amazon Prime shows and YouTube.

What would you guys recommend?

+Chris Jeter yes! What Google does best for the internet, it also does pretty well on the TV. Any TV show or Movie or Actor you can look up.. will bring a result in the PrimeTime app. Once you are there, PrimeTime will tell you if it is playing on TV, Netflix, Amazon, or Google Play for rent or purchase. This will only get more useful once other content providers get added to the search...

I really liked "Why People Believe Weird Things" by Micheal Shermer. The book that completely changed my thinking about medicine was "Trick or Treatment: Alternative Medicine on Trial", also I think "Bad Science" is a must read for skeptics as well.

+Adam Sweet  suggested I repost a question from a comment I made in another thread and post it for the general community.  (So if this all goes south, blame him not me.  ;)  Nah, kidding.)

Here's the relevant thread:  https://plus.google.com/u/0/111028613407522646219/posts/fnHudYLDmNC

The question came in response to a quote from an article.  Basically a Reverend was complaining that "atheist hackers" broke into his computer to plant bugs and steal drafts of his documents.  (Apparently, the Reverend writes articles for The Christian Post.)

As silly as that was, he went on to say "The atheist Communist homosexuals are so blinded they have paid no attention to the fact that when the world shift is completed, which will be a much shorter time than anyone expects, homosexuals will be rounded up and executed, which is going on in third-world Islamic-Communist countries today."

Crazy huh?

Skipping the obviously crazy talk, I asked, "Why do these guys always lump everyone together?  Why does an atheist have to also be a Communist and a homosexual too?"

Yes, a too long intro for a simple question.  It's still a valid, and potentially fun, question.  Why do these guys lump everyone together?  And who are "these guys"?  Theists?  Conservatives?  Something else?

Ground rule:  Don't just pile on and say "Theists are dumb ha ha".  Like I said, it's a valid question.  Try to come up with a valid answer.  Who knows?  Maybe we could learn something.  :)

Yeah, I'm hoping their demands of purity to extreme ideology shrink their numbers down to where they can be "drowned in a bathtub".  Figuratively speaking, of course.

My brand new Pulse is having problems.
Is there some kind of factory reset for this thing?
I'd like to wipe it before I return it for a replacement.
