This is probably one of the most amazing sunset's I've been able to experience (so far). Taken at Koukounaries Beach in Skiathos, Greece using Nikon D800.

AFTERGLOW: MT. ST. HELENS CRATER RIM

I love watching the suns last rays echoing over ridges in the high country. This was Andy and my view as we set up camp on St. Helens’ crater rim a couple of weeks ago.

BROOKS RANGE PANORAMIC: ARCTIC NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE

Those are the mountains we have to cross…  It looks different watching the little bush plane that dropped us off fly away than it did on maps and air photos.

Several years ago two friends and I traversed the Brooks Range through the heart of the A.N.W.R. No roads, no trails, no rangers. Just three guys in America’s wildest frontier. It was an epic two-week journey that I'll never forget.

I was recently asked to help illustrate an upcoming book showcasing Alaska’s wild beauty and this panoramic image came instantly to mind. I created it with a Nikon D200 and a 70-200mm lens in 8 overlapping vertical images.

This is an example of what I like to call a simple panoramic merger, meaning everything in the image is at the same focus distance away -- infinity -- making the process easier. I remember when I first printed this large (20”x60”) for a medical office and the level of clarity and detail in it sparked a fever to create more…

Right now I’m working on a series of tutorials on creating panoramic mergers, stay tuned...

I think I'd want to try this.. Nano sensors smaller than a grain of sand coursing through my veins monitoring my blood chemistry.. Why not?

I drove as far west as I could... continued to walk a little further and this is what I found.
