The good news is: the app he created (Trees for Cars) is now the #5 best-selling app on the Apple App Store.

The bad news is: now my boss will be throwing this in my face..."hey, where's that app already? If Leo Grand can do it, what's your excuse?" :)

But seriously: good for Mr. Grand. Hopefully, Mr. McConlogue could see his way to clear to giving him a job, and help get him off the streets for good.

After three-and-a-half months of coding lessons, a homeless New York City man named Leo Grand launched a mobile phone app called "Trees for Cars."

Today would have been the 88th birthday of Celia Cruz. Thank you, Google, for commemorating this with a Google Doodle.

Hi people, y'all were so useful and enlightening last time, so here's another puzzle for you :)

I've got a bunch of data in spreadsheets that I want to import into my Drupal site, as nodes. I've done most of it using Taxonomy CSV to pull in the taxonomy/vocabulary, and Feeds to pull in the actual nodes from the spreadsheets (saved in UTF-8 encoded .CSV files). That's been straightforward.

Here's a problem though: I have a Taxonomy called Cities with "New York", "Albany" and "Rochester" as vocabulary items. Those city names are also column titles in the spreadsheet, the first column of which is "Item Number". Here are a couple of rows of the spreadsheet:

| #| N | A | R |
| 1 | X |    | X |
| 2 |     |    | X |
| 3 | X | X | X |

In other words, item #1 is available in New York and Rochester, item #2 is available only in Rochester, and item #3 is available in all three locations. I can easily do a search-and-replace to change all blank cells to contain 0 and all cells with X to contain 1, to make it into a big Boolean matrix.

My question is: how can I use Feeds on this table (now converted into a UTF-8 encoded CSV file) so that it properly maps to the field "Cities" which is of type Taxonomy in the Drupal content type?

Thanks in advance, everyone!

I confess I didn't understood the part of the boolean matrix, but checkout this link, it helped me with my Countries Taxonomy: http://maged.me/blog/drupal-7-create-taxonomy-based-countries-list-3-easy-steps

Marcia Wallace died on Friday, October 25. If you are of a certain age, you know her as Carol the receptionist on The Bob Newhart Show. But if you are younger, you know her as the voice of Edna Krabappel on The Simpsons. And as I was going through YouTube looking for stuff related to her work on that show, I came across this, which I thought some of you also might enjoy.

Good try, Mr. Lhota, with your fear-mongering ad which has absolutely no basis in fact. I'll take a chipper and cheery Chiara over a joyless and jowly Joe any day of the week, and twice on Election Day!
