Picked up a CMR-30 for the wife as a Christmas present, got a decent price from Shoot Straight in Sarasota FL. They had plentiful 22 magnum and let me take it for a spin free of charge. It runs like a top, it light and easy to use and is decently accurate (though I can't wait to use a proper scope with it, she loves 100 yard plinking from the bench). It's a fine machine, she's going to love it!

Huh, they found a new dwarf planet. I think they should call it Tyrion.

It just got announced they found another dwarf planet in our solar system. I know I know, we already know about a lot of these... but look at this ones preliminary orbit path. Talk about a long cold winter.

Chad visits MAC and shows off all of Kel Tec's Bullpup rifle offerings, and a taste of the future with the 6.5 Grendel RDB-C, a favorite but under used cartridge

Update: I handled a non-firing prototype at their show room about three weeks ago (Erica is delightful, the wife and I are definitely coming back!)

But more to the point, I LOVE the C, with 20 inch barrel or shorter it's petite, lively, sleek and ergonomic as hell. I can't wait to get it in Grendel as the ultimate camp/pack/hunting gun. Good range, power, size and handling. The only stylistic drawback is that it only looks good with short mags.

My thoughts on critical reception of BvS and metacritic math.

Is the math right?
I hope I'm not too disappointed by BvS as I still have to wait a day and a half to see it. But "the hate is real" and I'm reminded of Michael Keaton's words to the critic in Birdman about hollow criticism, dripping impressions and invective, but seeming to lack openness. I say seeming because I've not seen it yet. I might have to give up on my dreams of a successful DCEU. Maybe.

In the meantime, know what's interesting? Metacritic's numbers are broken. If you add up all those scores and divide by 28, you get 51.2. Not 48. It's only 3 points, sure. But why? The site's math should be solid. Why fudge it down below 50% artificially? I poo poo conspiracy theories, but I ask again... how does this happen?

Just a few thoughts on BvS, specifically about my changing anticipations and critics sites.

Update. Saw it. Loved it. To the point that I can't help but feel critics saw a different film than I did.
Like they say, film is subjective.

Seeing it again to digest it further and share the experience with my film-buff friends in IMAX.

This isn't about things, it's about people and the culture. Mass shootings exist because narcissistic click-bait-drooling yellow journalism peddling fools like this man turn psychotic lone gunmen into rockstars and then punish law abiding citizens who will never commit such acts. 'bout time he learned he's not part of the solution.

"Robotech" is still moving forward, but Director James Wan still can't say when... but it's official, it's based on the Macross Saga.
In a brief interview with director James Wan, he talks about the upcoming live-action Robotech movie and most importantly of all cites Macross in the process.

This looks even better than I thought. Let's not let the fuss over whether BvS is good or bad get us down, they're filming this NOW. It's getting done whether BvS cracks a billion or not.
