Wow! The wife and I had a really great time visiting the Aquarium and strolling the grounds. Our favorite of the two buildings was the River Journey which housed the Seahorse exhibit. The Ocean Journey building housed the butterfly exhibit that was also a highlight of our visit.Air conditioned and well laid out with lots of interesting fish and wildlife, and helpful staff. We have previously visited the Georgia and New England Aquariums and agree with each other that the Tennessee Aquarium was more enjoyable.

We took our 3 year old granddaughter to the aquarium today. There were two different divers in the tank while we were there. Both divers were excellent with our granddaughter and the other children that were visiting. They were playfully with the children and very interactive with them. Our granddaughter loved seeing the divers and that made our visit even more enjoyable.

Really great place. The price was a little high, but it helps keep the crowds down. Good selection of fish and the butterfly palace was second to none. Not as extensive of a collection as Georgia Aquarium, but you didn't have to wait 10 minutes at every window to see the fish. Better selection than New Orleans.

The aquarium was definitely a place to go. The prices beat the Atlanta Aquarium. I also felt I had a better experience then I did at the Atlanta Aquarium. Very interactive and a lot of exciting fish. The ones where not as long as they where in Atlanta. Just bring a fast camera or you miss out on everything exciting. The only problem is I wish there where a timer or something so that everyone could look at the animals cause everyone just stood there and did nothing and just stood in front of everyone. Just a personal problem. But other than that a 4.7/5 <--- silly score

Very disappointed. Way overpriced. The exhibits for the most part did not look as they did on their website. Jellyfish were nice, but two tanks of moon jellyfish was one too many. A different varietal would have been nice. Saw no woodchuck, opossum nor hedgehog (as indicated on their site) and only one lone otter. Butterfly house was un-extraoadinary. Most of the birds they show on their website we never saw. I've been to smaller aquariums (Ft. Fisher for example) which have a greater variety of fish which were much more interesting. Would have been nice to see some anemones. Would not recommend this aquarium to anyone.

ADVICE--> It was a good experience. Drove from Georgia to this aquarium. As an aquarist, things could have been better in a lot of ways, but it was an all around good experience. Do not eat there, especially the little food court. It has stores called pizza, cookies, burgers etc., and nachos? Those were basically the exact names. Just bring a cooler with drinks and bread, PBJ sandwhich, boars head lunch meat, etc. Eat where ever and bring your own stuff would be wise. Ben and Jerry's had decent ice cream and service. "Five guys" would be a good call on food if you must. Please plan to be here for about 4 to 5 hours minimum if you love fish, take pictures and want to patiently see everything like aquarist do. stay behind the big groups also. I have at least 11 aquariums off the top of my head that are running so good luck and enjoy!

We visited here in on a Saturday in February 2015. This is a great place. It was packed, and I thought that the Riverfront exhibition was better sized to handle the crowds than the Oceanfront exhibit. Nice displays throughout, lots of different angles to see the animals. The butterfly exhibit was very nice. It was a shame to see people mishandling the butterflies though. We'll worth your time and money.

I was a volunteer here for three years as a teenager. There is literally nothing to dislike about this place. The flora and fauna are diverse, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and there's always something new to discover. If you go during off-hours, it's fairly quiet and you can stare up at the huge fish tanks and get lost in your thoughts. I really miss doing that.
