I love seeing you express yourself so honestly, Carrie. Grief is a process that looks different for everyone. You have sent a wise and heartfelt message here that there isn't a time limit on sadness. It would be so much worse for you to just tighten up the proverbial boot straps and move on as you were.

Losing Analin will change you... transform you into a woman who is even stronger and more beautiful  than  before. Think of a butterfly... how hard that little caterpillar works to build its chrysalis all on its own, something it has never done before, while we all admire and watch from afar. Then it rests and grows and changes into something completely different inside that little cocoon. The day it emerges as a gorgeous and mighty butterfly is magical.  And we all find joy in the beauty of butterflies, yes?

The whole process takes time, perseverance, and I can't imagine it's comfortable for the caterpillar. ;)

And so it is with you as you process through your loss.  You have many who love and support you, but I understand when you say you need the space to be alone. You won't be the same at the end of the process, but you will be better--healed and mighty and beautiful, ready to grace the world with what you have to offer in joy and wisdom.

Rad! I have a hint of where I would take this, but it is several weeks before my turn, so we'll see how this plays out.
I love that the main character is a guy and that the opening scene is at the beach. Actually, I love every part of this opening. :)

Nicely done. Carrie!

Darn butter tarts! Love this, Carrie! I can relate to Lilly... running off the extra goodies. Oh man, and three months in the Mediterranean sounds like a dream.

Nice job!
